Una paloma blanca, I'm just a bird in the sky....
Edited on Sat Mar-12-05 04:10 AM by NightTrain
Una paloma blanca, over the mountains I fly.
No one can take my freedom away.

Ahh, the '70s! :eyes:

2. The George Baker Selection, 1975.
Ya gotta say this for the '70s: the music was diverse as hell!

3. AM Radio...
You could hear everything on AM Top 40 radio; stations like CHUM, KHJ, WIXY, CKLW etc are heads and shoulders over what passes for radio now..

4. Giuro che ... Vado Via
One of these days, I'm going to actually interest one of you Philistines in non-English-language music :)

--p!

Vado Via
(E.Riccardi - L.Albertelli, 1973)

Vado,
Questa volta ho deciso che vado,
Ma perchè non me l'hai detto tu,
Di non poterne più

Dentro
A quel mezzo sorriso un po' spento
Ho scoperto i difetti che hai
Ma come avrò potuto amarti mai?
Giuro che ...

Vado via,
Casa tua
Più non c'è
E' meglio se ...

Io
Ti lascio,
Adesso
Che posso,
Ti lascio
Non son più quel ragazzo che sai,
Ma non avrò
Ripensamenti mai ...
Giuro che ...

Vado via ...
Casa tua
Più non c'è ...
E' meglio se ...

Tremo,
Sul confine di un mondo sereno
Il mio viaggio finisce con te,
Ma come avrò potuto amare te?
Giuro che ...

Vado via ...
Casa tua
Più non c'è
E' meglio se ...

Io
Ti lascio,
Adesso
Che posso
Ti lascio
Adesso
Che posso
Ti lascio,
Ti lascio
Adesso
Che posso ti lascio

5. Philisitne? I'll have you know I can sing "La Bamba" phonetically.
So there! Hmph.

6. I'll see your La Bamba and raise you a Yin-Yang
It's about two years old, so if you're in radio, you might have heard it. The name of the band, Jarabe De Palo, is idiomatic and it seems to literally mean "Picket-Fence Syrup".

Then again, even though it's in Spanish, it's not Salsa. More like northern Spanish folk-punk rock.

Yo soy no Ricky Martin ...

Yin-Yang
(Jarabe De Palo)

Yin-Yang
menos es más
polos opuestos que nunca se juntan

Yin-Yang
vienen y van
líneas paralelas que nunca se cruzan

bien mal
madera o metal

7. Eres Tú
Here's what I was looking for before Yin-Yang distracted me -- Eres Tú by Mocedades (Juan Calderón and band), and a hit at that (1973-1974 in Europe, then the USA).

The English version, "Touch the Wind", as usual, was a flop. For once the lyrics didn't suck, but lacked the poetry of sound of the original. The literal translation of the phrase Eres Tú is "It's You".
