On another forum I'm on someone posted a poll asking:

Over 30% of the respondents said no.

And from the replies many didn't think their view was even racist.

1. The attack on political correctness was really a ploy to make bigotry

fashionable again. Pretend it's about your free speech right rather than being as bigoted and offensive as you want to be,..then whine that the world is no longer a very nice place to raise your kids.

2. I grew up with the phrase

"Once you go black you can't go back". Highly racist, but it was a popular phrase. And the girls who did-they were right. No one else would date them in school. It wasn't right or fair but that's how it was.

(Although, since I got married I don't actually date *anyone*.)

However, in my dating days, I dated men outside of my own race and/or ethnic background.

There are so many strange people in the world. My cousin once asked me if I'd date a black guy - she was sort of an agressively liberal person and what I mean by that is half the things she did, I think she did simply to show how open minded she was, not because she really wanted to. Ya know what I mean?

I said, "Which black guy?" And she said "Any black guy."

I told her I wouldn't date just anyone, regardless of their color. I would only date guys I liked and if they were black or white or yellow or green, that was not the issue.

I think the answer puzzled her as much as the question puzzled me.
