Both for romantic relationships and friendships. I would not be able to stay interested in a man if he didn't have intelligence. There's no way that I would have married a dumb man or even gone on a second date (well after my first not so smart boyfriend).

5. I like to think I'm a smart guy, but...

...I've never, EVER had women following me around all googly-eyed, complimenting me on my powerful brain.

On the other hand -- women are a lot more friendly, even flirty sometimes, to me after I lost fat & got in shape.

So on a very superficial first-glance level I think women are usually just as shallow as we men are...

i've been having this conversation with a friend of mine. he is wonderful! smart, funny, open, warm, supportive, and on and on. but he says women tell him he is not good looking. he attracts women with his charm, manners and sense of humor.

he says, 'find an ugly man!' an ugly man will die for you, while the good looking ones are too busy in front of the mirror. lol

i think my friend is adorable! his wonderful qualities are what make him attractive, then the body looks great, too.

i know a guy who is drop dead gorgeous. women follow him around in the store, literally! but i have gotten to know him very well, and he is very abusive. nice package, rotten contents. but some women will put up with the abuse just to look at him! it's really sad......

But it's a certain kind of intelligence. And humor is essential! I like cleverness, creativity, wit, quick-thinking and I can't stand men (or women) who spend more time on their bodies than their brains.

Maybe I'm specialized or something, but for example I think Jon Stewart is totally hot and Arnold Schwartzenegger is repulsive. Take that for what you will.

I once dated a guy (in high school) just for his body. Just to see what that was like. It sucked. He once asked me to stop using big words on him. The word in question was "extremely." And no, I'm not kidding.

A sense of humour and a strong intellectual curiosity are extremely important.

Case in point - while waiting for friends outside a restaurant in the city, one of the hottest men I know pointed at a planter w/ a tree & some grass asked me, "Quick, without touching it, is that grass real or fake?"

Before that moment, I had thought of him as just another pretty face. Nice guy, good sense of humour, but I didn't know there was much going on upstairs. I almost pounced on him right then & there. It was so out of the blue, and that's the kind of thing I love - always trying to look at the world in a new way, it makes things exciting.
