Red Sox vs Yankees tv ratings
Don't shoot me I'm only the messenger.

According to today's Boston Globe the numbers are in for Thursday's Game 2 tv ratings.

Boston = 34.3 rating and a 50 share
New York = 18.5 rating and 26 share
Nationally = 10.6 rating and a 16 audience share

I don't understand the ratings and shares. Does that mean 50% of TVs in Boston were tuned to the game?

*There are an estimated 105.5 million television households in the USA. A single ratings point represents 1%, or 1,055,000 households for the 2001-02 season. Share is the percentage of television sets in use tuned to a specific program.

2. CUBS are the ratings kings this post season
And here I thought the YANKEES were everyone's favorite team, at least that is how it seems if you listen to Fox sports and Mike Lupica.

CHICAGO - (KRT) - The Cubs continue to be the ratings king in the playoffs.

The game did a 10.1 rating and a 17 share; one ratings point is worth 1,084,000 households, and share is the percentage of televisions tuned to the broadcast.

An estimated 15.6 million viewers watched all or a portion of the game. That was the most for an opener since 20.8 million watched Game 1 of the Atlanta-Philadelphia series in 1993.

Fox is benefiting from huge numbers from Chicago. Tuesday's game did a 38 rating on WFLD-Ch. 32; a local rating point is worth just over 32,000 households. Also, 52 percent of area televisions were tuned to the game.

That's an astounding figure. The rating is rivaled only by those pulled in by the Michael Jordan Bulls and a Bears team in the playoffs.
