4. That movie broke my heart.
When I was a kid in Chicago, it used to come on WGN about twice a year--watched it every time. Rod Stieger was absolutely AMAZING in that part.

5. I never realized how many good films he made until I saw that
montage of clips. Yes, he deserved it and his speech was nice too.

6. Scorsese was crying when Lumet went up for the award.
And the audience was listening with rapt attention when Al Pacino was talking about him. I'd say that Sidney Lumet is highly respected and admired in Hollywood.
