Oh the humanity. Oh the insanity.

Oh the wadded up panties.

15. That was a mess!
I was 'gone' for a minute (actually to do a search on that name) and when I came back the whole damn thread was gone! It is interesting the tactic that the freepers are using now...not as "upfront" but more stealthy. Granted, they still fuck up eventually, but I will say they are getting better. I am noticing higher post counts (I know we all started out at 0) on some of them. Such is the price of fame! :)

26. There was nothing stealthy about that shite at all. Troll-o-matic stamped
all over it from post #1, and Bouncy had it completely pegged.

Wouldn't you think they'd realize that about five hundred of them had already tried the same angle before? I mean, we DO recognize the same lame shit when we've seen it more than once. :eyes:

"Oh no, we've got to st-st-st-stop talking about Gannon, guys, it's HURTING us!"

Give me a break.

Edited on Sat Feb-26-05 05:02 AM by Mayberry Machiavelli
"They Only Come Out at Night". When I was thinking about these trolls creeping out of the woodwork I thought of this title and went googling for that album cover.

29. I guess so
I like to give the benefit of the doubt....BUT....a quick "name search" cleared up any doubts! I have found myself doing searches many times recently, even on 1000+ members. I have this sickness...I do like to ferret "them" out. :) It is interesting the tactics they are taking though. I still think more are more stealthy then those of the past. OF course, I have only been here since last June, so I still have much to learn of the trolls. :)

31. I am so glad to know other people do that.
I even keep a list of usernames I suspect on a pad next to my monitor. BUT they only get added to the list if an advanced search confirms my suspicions. Then I can look for them in future and kinda keep tabs. But I have a 100% accuracy rate so far because everytime I go to look for them again, they've already been um....gone-ered.

Heehee! I do the same thing!!! LOL! I have even watched some grow in post counts, all the while knowing the 'truth!' Do you also share my 'sickness' of wanting to know what "DELETED MESSAGE" really said? I have no idea why that fascinates me, but I see "deleted post" and I STILL will click on it! I guess I expect it to magically reveal what it really said and who said it...LOL!

50. Count me in... It's all I can do not to put them in a spreadsheet
and chart their progress... :) I settle for a simple text file. Saves me a lot of time that I might have spent arguing with someone I've already "spotted" in the past... A lot of them go weeks without posting, then throw a few under the radar stink-bombs for a day then poof... gone again. I couldn't possibly remember all the sockpuppet names, so the list is imperative.

39. Many Women Are Still Taught
Edited on Sat Feb-26-05 05:19 AM by REP
that they only exist in relation to others they serve, so when they have a child, that child and its tending subsumes their existance. Additionally, we live in the time of the Cult of the Baybee, where everything is done - or is said to be "for the children." By immersing herself entirely in the role of Mommy, a woman may find she has additional privileges, or at the least the illusion of some.

Of course, some people are just not that interesting to begin with.

The above are generalizations, and the specific reasons why your formerly bright, outgoing friend can now talk about nothing other than the texture of leavings in her infants diaper may differ.

44. Then The Disclaimer Applies To You
There are some women who don't get over it though, and I believe the two reasons I give (and undoubtedly others but it's late, I'm tired and my hands are crippled) are factors for some of them (again, see the thing about them being generalizations that don't apply to every single human being).

45. Some women suffer from conflicted feelings.
Feeling they have to be all things to all people. It's insane and impossible.

The Cult of the Baybee is true and in my opinion is dangerous. It creates a standard that in some cases is impossible to follow, leaving a new mother to feel inadequate or selfish if she can't or won't adhere to it. I've always called it the Stepford Mother Syndrome.

7. It's not necessarily that GD is so bad.
A lot in the lounge claim to not ever leave the lounge, but I don't find GD or GD:Politics (more of a focus on politics and GD is more general in nature) to be THAT bad.

I just got involved in a really hairy thread that pissed me off and it's really unusual for anyone on DU to piss me off.

It happens
to me too on occasion. I haven't noticed any particular forum though. I just notice topics that if I try to post, someone starts by saying something generic as if they know it ALL. Of course, this sets me off and I am sucked in. I reply and that brings on a swarm of stinging hornet like replies. To which, I reply in turn. Repeat process until completely frustrated. I know the feeling. It is especially harsh late at night when people start getting sleepy and needing their nappy poos.
