Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 04:01 PM by leftofthedial
we have insipid Little cute kittie pictures out the friggin wazoo and plenty of "I love my dog" crap. We get birds, hamsters, gerbils, ferrets, fish and even snakes fercrisake.

But do we ever get any nice furry 8-legged closeups of our arachnid friends? Huh? Do we?

You arachnophobes make me sick.

23. You gotta be
shitting me. I sure can. It's them or me. That's that. I'll save you. <crinkle crinkle crinkle> Although, I have to admit, the tarantulas may with their owners present be pettable possibly, assuming their owners don't sic them on me. I think that is why I hate spiders to this day. I had that happen once and have never forgiven spider owners since.

People on this site care about the poor, the homeless, and the middle class--but you're right--they don't give a damn about spiders.

It makes me sick.

They just creep me out unless someone else who can wrangle them is in the room with me. On edit: And my cats are no help. Anything they catch they bring to me alive. When we first move here, there was a mouse, they didn't kill it. They brought it to me and set it on my foot. And there are spiders around here the size of tarantulas. Oh God, I have no kill cats. Wouldn't you know it?..<slaps forehead>

34. They are too cool though. They have HUGE brains.
An Octopus can perform 8 different, and delicate, tasks simultaneously with each of it's tentacles. At the same time, the Octopus can control each skin cell as though it were a pixel.

They scan their environment with their eyes, and change their skin to colors to blend in at the same time. They really are amazing. And the babies? Well, those little potlickers are just tooo cute!

52. I just learned that on a Discovery Channel program.
They have a show about Squid and Octopus that is really far out. You can actually see them turn colors right in front of you, and then they disappear into the background.

One actually molded itself around this hunk of coral, and PRESTO! He disappeared. The disguise was so convincing that a crab came along and tried to hide underneath.

Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 05:09 PM by Tactical Progressive
His mom didn't like it at all. Boa too.

The spider got out of its tank and disappeared. They didn't tell their parents.

He and his brother found it a few months later, dead behind a wall.

Which was lucky for them.
