And what prompted you to buy one?

A Harley sportster 1200.
I had never even considered riding a bike until I moved to my current house, a few blocks away from a big Harley store. I'd walk by that damned store all the time and something would catch my eye. Then I'd walk in and look at the bikes.
They were just so beautiful - works of art. So I decided to learn how to ride and then got myself a pretty little Harley. I only ride around town on it - no big road trips - but I enjoy it.

If it is, beware: I'm stringing fishing line between all the trees on the street.

I'm not the type to louden my pipes. I just sip around town as quietly as possible.

my folks are from Pennsylvania. They'd say Louden and Outen and all sorts of weird stuff. They picked it up from the Pennsylvania Dutch.

I have always owned motorcycles. love em. i bought my 1st Harley in 2000 when i was rich.
I'm too damn poor now to own any vehicle, but if i had my way I'd go out today and get a motorcycle.
dunno if I'd get another Harley. I dont think it's right to be that emotionally attached to a machine.
I'm a commute rider, so comfort was very important to me....I found that some bikes were really hard on my back, where others were comfy...
that reminds me...if you are considering getting a harley, you owe it to yourself to at least sit on a nice touring hog like an Electra Glide... mmm mmm, now THERE's some comfort and style.
my $0.02 YMMV

| 6. I'm not a fan of modern Harleys |

But I like the late models and the new one that doesn't look like a Harley. I've had several bikes throughout the years, but never a Harley. I've always wanted a 60's Triumph, but my favorite bikes are mid-60's Hondas. I bought one once for $20 and never got around to fixing it because it was too far gone.
