5. I don't touch pop country crap
but give me some good ole rockabilly any day, BR5-49, Old 97's, almost rock really, Brian Setzer, Dwight Yoakam, The Reverend Horton Heat, The Flatlanders. Heck, one of the most hilarious songs I have ever heard come from The Flatlanders. It's called, "I'm gonna strangle you, Shorty." Good music with hilarious lyrics.

7. I dunno
I think you'd have to go pretty far to match the poetry of Kris Kristofferson. And while he's not as eloquent (and elegant), perhaps, Toby Keith's lyrics are pretty danged clever too.

But I don't know anyone who recommends Country Music to raise one's IQ or cultural quotient. It's what it is -- intended for termporal enjoyment and personal expression -- not high brow "art." And I personally love it, just as much as I love my Mozart and Vivaldi and Tchaikovsky and Chopin on other days.

YMMV.

20. Hick Hop. It exists, and it's very good.
From perhaps the most ignored group of people in the US today: poor rural blacks.

here's verse from "Awnaw" by Nappy Roots:

My nigga, we hogwild, bet that from that roota to that toota-file
Hell naw, them country boys ain't headed south for six miles
Kentucky mud, them kinfolk, twankies with them hundred-spokes
Skullied on that front po'ch, plus you know they got 'dro
Seventy-nine coupe DeVille vertical Caddy grill
Interstate 65 headin down to Cashville
Glass filled, to the tippy-top, back-seat Benz
Spent my last cent on the rent, left with pocket lints
A damn shame, gotta grind anythang and everythang
Jimmy Crack Corn, cross the county line with Mary Jane
A long time, a gravel road, to cash and fame and sold my soul
To Hell and back, and back and forth, with same jeans and nappy 'fro

There's a lot of country I could do without. But take that song from me and I'll blow my brains out.

11. Much of it seems lachrymose and melodramatic...
Is it because the lives of country fans have a certain desperation or what?

Most of it is not very interesting to me as a musician, I mean compared with Nine Inch Nails or Mars Volta. I like stuff with an "edge".

14. Go head and show us MORE of your ignorance
That is a ridiculously broad statement condemning an entire genre of musical expression. Just like rock, blues, pop (please don't tell me you're going to defend the current state of popular music) -- some is excellent while the majority is bland, even bad. And some is very bad.

If you want to engage in a pissing contest, I can name at least as many truly bad titles in other genres as you can in country. Probably more, in fact, because you obviously know nothing about REAL country music.
