Today's Chicago Cubs thread, Wednesday 10/8
What a night! Between the California debacle and the boxing match at Wrigley, how much more can I take? The wrong side won in each case. But the Cubs, like the Democrats, will bounce back.

I am not worried about the Cubs. First, they started their weakest pitcher. Second, they kept coming back only to be outlasted by the Marlins late. In fact, the Marlins did the same to the Giants in Game 1 of the division series, winning by a run in the 11th. Also, Sammy's bat finally came alive, to give the fans the second thrilling comeback of the game.

So, Prior pitches tonight against a weaker Marlin pitcher. Plus, with the Cubs offense producing again, I feel this will atone for last night.

Wood pitches Game 3 in Miami Friday, so I am seeing a 6 game series minimum. The sooner they wrap it up the better, but wouldn't clinching at Wrigley be sweet?

It promises to be a classic folks. :-)

GO CUBBIES!!!

Side note: Thanks to the lousy ^#%@ at FOX, only the ALCS will be broadcast on TV (at least where I am). Nothing against that game, it is a classic matchup, BUT why can't we see both? At different times? Hell, Wrigley is at its best for day games.

Good luck to the RED SOX, and once again, GO CUBBIES! :bounce:

I bet that Prior is pretty pissed off at those bad calls last night. He will be in top form.

4. I hope Prior can do it again
I don't have the stomach to listen to tonight's game, I think. Maybe I'll tune in to the last few innings.

5. This scheduling has me pissed off
Someone explain to me why during the last round of the playoffs they could manage to have 3 games in 1 day with almost no overlap but they had to schedule 2 games today at exactly the same time. Grrrr...

8. Prime Time!
They'll get better ratings having both in prime time as opposed to having one during the day when no one can watch it.

9. The "problem" is that most of the playoff teams
are in major television markets and I am sure the ad dollars are influencing the decision to have the Boston/Yankees game on at the same time as the Cubs/Marlins...

LET'S HAVE OURSELVES A LITTLE FISH FRY TONIGHT CUBBIES!!!!!!!

10. A nit-picky point of contention

The blue marlin, and the lessor species, the white marlin and striped marlin, are highly prized billfish sought by sportfisherman for their extreme endurance and rugged fighting abilities. They are highly respected as a protected gamefish in these US waters and are rarely killed and eaten. Every captain I know has practiced CPR (catch, photo and release) often going thru great lenghths to make sure the beast, (my partner has captured a 800# brute) is cleanly caught, fought, and released.

their flesh is NEVER fried.

Bear meat, on the other hand, I hear, tastes just like *SquAAWCK!!* Chicken:)

LETS GO MARLINS

16. for whatever reason
I am getting the game after all! Just like I predicted, the offense is on fire tonight!

Wood in Game 3 means a 2-1 series lead by Saturday. :D I think they can get of Florida either winning the series or leading 3-2!

17. Take heart Cub fans!
Boy, everyone on The Score 670AM was SO DOWN on the Cubs today. They were ready to fire Dusty, reshuffle the entire line-up and throw the pitching staff out the door.

Yeah, last night was ugly. But Cub fans were only looking at the Cubs performance. The Marlins didn't beat us 9-0, they bearly beat us in 11 innings. They played just as pathetically as the Cubs. Lousy pitching, terrible defense.

So hang in their folks! Prior will get us back on track. We have hit the crap out of their #1 and #2 pitchers. They have to face Kerry and Mark twice in the series, and they are getting a taste of that tonight.

EAMUS CATULI!!!!

18. you are absolutely right!
The Cubs did not cave easily last night - it was a matter of one set of hitters barely edging another. We started one of our weaker pitchers and STILL made it close.

We will wrap it up Sunday in Miami at best. The worst that could happen is coming back to Chicago for Game 6 next week, and I imagine Wrigley Field will be stormed. :D

5 or 6 game series.
