5. Yup, it's a German railroad gun nicknamed 'Dora' made by Krupp
It was used during the siege of Sevastopol during WWII. The thing was massive, and required a few thousand men to operate with a general to supervise everything. It's basically one of the most impractical weapons ever made.

6. Really. It appears you could aim it in one direction only...
...pretty impractical.

7. I think it rotates
It had to travel by rail, so it was geographically restricted, but it had high accuracy and an awesome range and delivered quite a payload. There was some british fellow who was obsessed with the technology in the 80's and tried to get funding from anyone to build something equivalent. He ended up in Iraq building a super cannon for The Evil One himself. The Israelis assasinated him, ending the project. It seems the gun was going to be capable of hitting israeli cities.

8. Yeah, that's the thing.

They had to build two side-by-side railway lines to wherever they wanted it moved. If they wanted to change direction, they'd have to move it away, redirect the track some, and then move it back. Or something like that. I saw something on the discovery channel about this a while back. An 80 CM gun is pretty impressive.
