I read that Christo's project has been completed in Central Park. It sounded like a beautiful idea.

4. that's not the finished work.... it's missing the billowing curtains that
hang from the top.
christo's work is about being there, and seeing a place differently. it's very much about walking under them on a breezy day.
the photo would be lacking even if it was of the completed arches.

3. I love it when artist do things like this
It is so much fun to see all the people come out and yell about it. So many people what art to look like a photo and if it does not it is not art to them. You should see how they act in art classes on this subject. I think it is the thing that they plan in their mind, this is what I will see, and when the art is not like that they get really up set. Do they feel the same on a person the writes? Not so much.

5. It's art dammit!
Haha. I love Christo and Jean Claude's work. The scale of it always blows my mind and it's really amamzing that a marriage can survive projects like this. I also love the fact that it is truly a collaborative artwork: it takes years and hundreds of volunteers to put this stuff together. Don't worry naysayers, it'll be gone in 2 weeks.

thousands are in Central Park to witness it.
I plan to go to the park tomorrow to see it.

EDIT: It is called ART.
It will only be up for 16 days.
He pays for it himself.
He constructs it himself with the help of volunteers.

9. I thought I read that he shelled out 20 million for it.
Which should be said before the right wing nutcases start foaming at the mouth over any NEA involvement. Yes, this is a self financed project.

I wish I was there. I'd like to see it...stroll through Central Park and see for myself.
