Why is there always ALWAYS more female nudity on HBO and SHOWTIME (and the rest) than there is male nudity? It's not fair!

1. I guess male nudity is more 'threatening.'
If you're talking full-frontal, that is.

Breasts aren't genitalia. Hell, even a full-frontal shot of a woman normally doesn't reveal genitalia. However, we men have ours hanging out for all the world to see, which makes it a bit problematic when shooting a nude scene.

Women are just more ergonomically designed, I guess.

6. Bear with me...
'cause I'm having a thought about this. I think it goes back to something that a lot of my straight guy friends have told me over the years. They all say something along the lines of "I don't understand why women find men attractive...we look silly naked". I always blew that off as "see I'm not gay at all" posturing but maybe they were telling the truth. Maybe straight guys really do think they look silly naked and since they basically have the power in the industry they don't show guys naked. Maybe they're uncomfortable with us seeing them naked in full light. Maybe it just never dawns on them that some of us might find naked guys a turn on. Or maybe they're so boob-fixated that it never even crosses their minds to think of the ladies and gay guys in the audience.

Just my rambling thoughts on the subject.

23. And? So do I, and I'm female!
Have you ever sat back and taken a really close *objective* look at breasts and female genitalia? They're pretty silly-looking too. As a young gay friend of mine once said, "How can you stand walking around all day with big bags of fat hanging from your chest?" Female genitals look like the back end of a chicken, plus hair. I can't really see what's NOT silly about that. Aside from breasts and other external dangly bits, there's really not that much difference in anatomy between men and women (I wear men's pants and shirts with no difficulty, and I don't expect you'd have too much trouble, fit-wise with nylons and skirts, for instance), so body-wise, if you males look silly naked, so do we females.

For the record, I'll also say that male genitalia look pretty dumb to me, too, so I'm not just making the same argument in reverse.

Personally, I've never understood that line of argument that women somehow look better naked than men do, objectively and as an indisputable "fact." Face it, BOTH sexes look pretty stupid naked; we're just hardwired to find ourselves not as objectionable as we might otherwise be.

28. Does anybody think lesbian love scenes are for women?
Not only do I think male-female porno is made with men in mind, I also think that female-female porno is made with men in mind. I very rarely see male-male porn on Cinemax or HBO, but plenty of lesbian sex.

2. It's fair...
There's more male skin on the beach than there is female. Men can go topless, women (generally) can't. I think it all averages out. Not.

Edited on Tue Oct-07-03 10:58 AM by Caution
It's that simple. Male nudity is somehow viewed as more prurient than female. It's nonsense and I see no reason not to show men just as much as women.

I for one would much rather see an erect of flacid penis than any violent act on television. Why is it that the sexual act is considered "obscene" while blowing the back of someone's skull out with a shotgun is good old american entertainment?

7. Ever Watch Those HBO Specials About Euro TV...
... and how much they "get away" with over there? Boobs, cocks, butts, pubes, condoms, toys, suggestive commercials, etc.

Only for them, it's not "getting away" with anything, it's perfectly normal.

12. Love Euro TV but I have a serious question
I don't mind seeing male parts in reference to a scene having to do with sex at all and I am hetereosexual.

I guess most men in society with power are just damn uptight.

It is like cock in a porno. It is not about seeing some other guy's thing but being in the context of sex imagining that your cock going in, getting sucked.. etc..etc.. A sex movie without male parts is just not all that exciting really just software with close in vaginal shots which is cool but not as fullfilling.

Am I the only straight guy that feels this way?

15. Speaking as a hetero male (who is confident enough to say that Cruise is
a very good-looking guy)

I believe that it is standard reasoning that males are drawn in more by nudity (hence, female) and violence. Promise nude females, you'll draw a guy to a chick flick.

Chick flick - all talk, no nudity = no guys, except those dragged in by their girlfriends.

Women always seem to point out that they are more drawn to the personality than the bod. While that may work for superrich geeks like Bill Gates or rock-and-roll drummers, regular geeks tend not to get laid for a long time. When do you see cheerleaders in high school dating short, fat debating team members who will probably not have a career-ending knee injury?

17. Another viewpoint: Sex sells - to men....
Take any old crappy movie, get some tits out, and supposedly us males will watch it. However, the converse is not true, at least to the people who make movies and advertising. Supposedly women are not taken in by that sort of thing and thus the crappy movies are not sold to women by showing dick.

Advertising is the worst for this sort of bullshit. Take a beer, any old crap beer will do, and put a half naked woman in the ad, and supposedly us men will buy it and drink it like it's water.

Take a body wash for women however, and do they put a naked (yet not full frontal) man in the shower? Nope. They put a WOMAN in the shower. Supposedly women want to BE the woman and thus buy the liquid soap.

Does it work? Well, not on me. Maybe it does in general, but I find the OPPOSITE to be true. When they put a half naked woman in the ad, I as a heterosexual male take it to mean that the product is so crap they have to try and get me horny to buy it rather than just tell me how good it is, and so I avoid such products.

So the idea of a "sexy woman" in an ad or movie is men want to hump her, and women want to BE her. Shallow isn't it. I'm offended that they think this way, how about you?

18. Speaking as a strait woman
I think in many ways, most standard porn caters to a strait male audience for the most part. I think women generally get more stimulated (speaking in media-enhanced stimulation) by words than images and gay men just don't make up a large enough percentage of the market for the mass produced cable stuff. Although images can be stimulating as well. I seem to remember a few hotel incidences being rather disapointed in how the male parts were no where to be seen (as opposed to if you rent a video), but then like one of the guys sid, but in reverse, I can watch what's being done to the woman and imagine myself. (Populistmom is probably revealing too much here for a daytime audience. Oh well.)
However, though, you're right. It's not fair! Those of us who are attracted to men should get to see what they want to see!

19. I get you Populistmom
While seeing the guy's parts is cool in a "wish that was me/imagine that was me" way.

I cannot imagine sex scenes or porn without a bit of female nudity.

It is utterly astounding that women can bear to watch "soft" porn at all really. Totally unfair.

As for those that say naked men look silly. Ok, I am straight guy and I can look at see the David sculpture and say with a no pun intended straight face that the male physique is cool. For a woman I can even see where a healthy fit male with a erect penise would be stimulating to see.

Though for most women I know, they tend to prefer story style porn as opposed to videos. Erotic stories giving more to the imagination and more play in terms of their own ideas. Men I admit are visual beasties.

26. I am with you man
Like I said in previous posts. The act of hetereosexual sex on film with nudity from both partners does not bother me in the least.

In graphic films I find it more stimulating than girl/girl or all girl nudity actually.

In like the typical Club or other skin mag I am the type that always lingers on the couple action. I find it more interesting actually.

29. The human body is a beautiful thing
I don't feel weird picking up Men's Health or Men's Fitness at a grocery store even though the cover pics could be gay masturbation material considering the half-disrobed pumped guys on the cover. GQ is like that except the guys are wearing suits for goodness sakes.

Why can't I look at Bruce Lee for example and say I want a body like he had as a body ideal?

Why is that sort of mutual admiration absent from straight guys?

It is just wrong.

On a more emotional note, when I left home I barely patted some of my friends on the back as I left. The only person I hugged was my dad. I did not want to have sex with them but god I could have given the biggest freaking hugs goodbye but that especially in the deep South is something you just don't do even among otherwise very caring open friends.

God it just wrong.

When I watch a movie and a girl/boy couple are having sex part of that is the man's genitlia. It just does not bother me.

It is part of the beauty of the human whole.

31. Straight "Guy-Hugs"
1) Be sure to use the word "buddy" or "Pal" or "chum"
2) Each buddy should step towards each other
3) Stop approaching when you are 1 foot apart
4) Lean towards each other until you can
5) Touch opposite shoulders
6) Make absolutely CERTAIN that stomachs and/or hips DO NOT touch
7) Put ONE arm around buddy friend and give three quick tap-tap-taps on the back
8) Pull back quickly and
9) Resume safe non-gay distance and
10) Establish your manly personal space again.

UNLIKE Italians... who aren't afraid to hug, or even give a kiss on the cheek. Both cheeks!

the organ responsible for reproduction. A full frontal nude of a man does. His organ is displayed like a 'peacock'..women on the other hand have their reproductive organs tucked in and hidden from the world.

Next question?
