Wheatgrass - is it something worth taking
I've been enjoying my new juicer and I noticed that my juicing recipe book contained several drinks that included Wheatgrass. Supposively this is some ultra-healthy cure all food that we could all use in our diet.

Now mind you, juicing is a pretty radical step for me but it's the only way I can increase the amount of Fruits & Veggies I get in my diet everyday (I just really hate the taste of most of them - with juicing I can chug it all down no problem).

So seriously, what's the scoop on Wheatgrass? Should I include it in my juices or what is the best way to incorporate it into a diet

1. I've heard it's nearly impossible to juice
unless you have a professional juicer. It's certainly good for your health, but the taste.. Ugh.. I'll stick with my favorite carrot/apple/strawberry juice. That stuff is delicious, and it makes me feel like I'm high. :)

2. 1 oz is equivalent to something like a pound of vegetables.
I don't know about the juice, though.

5. I've done the wheatgrass thing. It is supposed
to be the equivalent to a pound of vegetables but I have to tell you the taste is pretty rough. If you've ever mowed your lawn and had that strong grass smell... well the taste is like that smells only a little stronger. Try going to a local juice bar and getting a shot to see what you think. The taste goes away if you follow with a regular juice drink right away.
To answer your second question, the easiest way to do it is to go buy wheatgrass that has been grown to a few inches from Wild Oats or Vitamin Cottage and put it on your window sill. Then you clip some off and throw it in your juicer.

9. Exactly right on the taste...
It's like squeezing juice from a weeks worth of lawn clippings.

I pick up a shot now and then, but somehow it does seem like something that's somehow uber-healthy. $1/shot at Blenders in Santa Barbara... not bad all things considered.

6. Yes, a good choice
basically it's liquid chlorophyll, lots of B1, C, calcium, iron, carotene--much much more than regulr servings of milk , carrots, and spinach. Also a super anti-oxidant that promotes good digestion and nourishes the skin.

7. Not being ruminants, humans are not adapted to eating grass. Moo.

My guess is the undigestible cellulose would wreak havoc of the gaseous kind. Just stick to the well cooked beans, please.

On edit: and thank you for not farting.

8. i'd go for it - but
start slow! maybe a tablespoon to start with, as it is a major cleanser. what kind of juicer do you have that will juice wheatgrass? i usually use the champion for all juices but had to buy an omega just for wheatgrass. i have a manual wheatgrass juicer but it's a pain to use.
