I have to tell you about this meal I had on Friday night.
I went to an IHOP with my daughter for dinner on Friday night, on our way to Austin.

First, I think our waitress was drunk or stoned, or both.

We were seated and immediately overheard the people at the table across from us and behind us complain about their meals. The table across had chicken strips that weren't done cooking and the woman behind us had an apparently world-class nasty cheese steak hoagie.

That should have been my FIRST clue.

We ordered. Ten minutes go by, 20 minutes, 30 minutes. I couldn't find the drunk/stoned waitress anywhere. Finally 45 minutes after we ordered, we get our meal.

My eggs looked like they had a coat of varnish. The bacon was raw. My crepes were cold and chewy. My daughter's pancakes had BITS OF BELL PEPPER IN THEM. Her bacon was burnt to a crisp and her fried egg was so uncooked, I wouldn't let her touch it.

Couldn't find the waitress anywhere, and we still didn't have our drinks. So I found the manager, brought him back to our table and pointed out what was wrong with our food. He apologized, said they'd remake it. But I was trying to get out of town, and didn't have another 45 minutes and I told him so. He looked pained and said "We've only got one cook, the other one called in sick, and our one cook has been cooking since 8 am" (this was about 6 pm). Well no damn wonder the food sucked. I said "no, don't bother" and we left.

Went to a Sonic across the highway. A teenager was standing in every single parking spot, one to each spot, except the one on the very end. I rolled down my window, hit the red button to order. Waited. Was treated to loud, profanity-filled descriptions of fights the teenagers had supposedly been in ("then I knocked him on his MOTHER FUCKING ASS!" etc.) Pushed the red button. Waited. Waited. Waited. Tried pushing it again. Nothing.

Fuck it. We drove off.

It SUCKED.

Ask me what town this was in. Go ahead, ask me. WACO.

WACO SUCKS. IT SUCKS POND SCUM. I HATE WACO!!!!!

3. No I DO blame it on Waco
because

a) it's fun to blame shit on Waco and

b) EVERY other IHOP I have ever been to has been good. Only THAT one sucked. So it's gotta be Waco.

LOL!

6. Um....ok
I had some shitty chinese food in Cambridge once. I don't really think it's fair to judge an entire place by the food...

9. I guess you haven't noticed from the tone of my posts
that I am being tongue-in-cheek.

Oh well.

7. Guns? I ain't afraid of no stinkin' guns.
LOL!

I heard our waitress tell someone else she is a student at Baylor. Wonder if they know her breath is 180 proof at work, LOL.

2. Waco most definitely sucks.
And, as a former Texan, keep in mind that I actually LIKE most parts of Texas!

What an awful experience--hope you guys were finally able to get sustenance (perhaps from a DQ along the way? Oh, how I miss steak finger baskets....)

5. We kept looking for somewhere else
and got to my friends' house unfed. Fortunately they had just made stew in the Crock Pot ALL day and we ate that and then went to Amy's for ice cream, best damn ice cream in Austin. Dear God, hold me back.

That was worth waiting for! :hi:

8. Am I the only one in the world
Who almost never goes out to eat? I have a thing about eating out. I'd rather cook the food myself-- at least I know who to blame if it doesn't turn out right.

11. We don't eat out about 90% of the time.
For almost the same reason. I also don't like how expensive it tends to be compared to going to the store and preparing your own meals. But we were on the road, my daughter LOVES IHOP and I thought we'd have a nice sit down meal of pancakes together.

I thought wrong. And I still blame Waco! LOL! (Sarcasm there.)

On occasion. My children love IHOP also, it's just not for me.

If we don't tell the headquarters, the restaurants will never get the message..

14. Waco is the belly button of Texas. Full of lint.
I used to go through there all the time when I went to visit my Mom, but we finally figured out a way around it. Now the only time we ever go near is if hubby absolutely has to have a Starbucks fix.

15. LOL...I can relate...Went to the local KFC a couple of weeks ago...
Ordered the 8 piece special. When I got home, I had one breast, one thigh, 5 wings and a leg! I called the manager to complain because typically the 8 piece is 2 breasts, 2 thighs, 2 wings and 2 legs-enough for 4.

She was apologetic and told me it would be replaced. When I came in to get the replacement a few days later, she was very unhappy about it, rude and had the gall to try to charge me $8 for the side order of potatoes and the biscuits. I gave them back and took the chicken. I'll never darken their door again.
