Healthiest Way to Get Drunk?
I've heard Bacardi and Diet = 0 calories, 0 carbs. Problem is I hate both. Any other shortcuts to inebriation that don't involve a million calories? Thanks DU'ers I knew I could count on you.

BTW, I love Tonic but it's LOADED w/ carbs.

JD

54. I may have over simplified this
But as I recall alcohol has a very high energy content. When the body metabolizes it one result is ketone (which is where I oversimplified as ketone is not a carbo). Ketone (in a process called ketosis)is what the body runs on when it runs low on glycogen (carbos are used to make glycogen). I was taught if glycogen is available ketones may be turned into fat (stored) by another process. But, don't ask me which.

Loaded with calories and carbs. And the better it tastes, the moreso.

But if all you want is to get googly, fall on your head. Worked for me -- lasted a few days, too.

Of course, that six-month hangover is not so nice, but ....

22. It is often difficult to tell,
since I fell on my head.

OK, here it is boringly dull: The sensations of being drunk are symptoms of ill health. My own recent experience of head injury reinforces by experience that well know fact. So anyone who wants to get drunk (as distinct from enjoying the mild sensations, flavors and other pleasures that come with a glass of wine or beer) must have been across the street when the Good Lawd was passing out brains.

Waist Watcher cola makes it. If that's in your area, check it out. I don't drink much, so I haven't even tried it yet, but I used to love gin and tonic (or vodka and tonic), so I suppose next time I'm in the mood, I'll try it.

34. If you get Schweppe's Diet Tonic
It tastes a little like they already added the lime :)

1/2 seltzer (flavored if you want), 1/2 all-juice juice, plus some hard liquor isn't too calorie-filled, and tasted pretty darn good, depending on the flavors you choose for those three things!

I personally love Malibu and Diet Coke :)

46. Yes. Your conscience speaking.
There is nothing to be gained from getting drunk.

Excessive drinking is a sign of a serious emotional or health problem. You should acknowledge this and learn from it and move on to the next phase of the issue.

It's only because I care. People rarely have the balls to confront someone who has a problem like this. I've sent many people to AA and other such programs where they're sorted out issues they're grappling with.

It's only because I care.

:)

36. Um..."healthiest way to get drunk"?
That's the silliest subject line I've seen in a liong time. You DO know ethanol is a poison, right? Liver damage, brain damage, pancreatitis, et cetera....if you cared THAT much about your health you wouldn't be getting drunk; there's more to health that watching your carb intake and counting calories.

37. HEALTHIEST way is with equal parts Trader Joe's Garden Patch juice,
mixed with equal parts of carrot/celery/spinach/watercress juice, topped of with a shot of wheatgrass juice and as much VODKA as the glass will hold.

I drink this in a pub glass every night except when I'm drinking beer.
