Man Finds Human Leg In Bag Thought To Have Father's Belongings

CENTER MORICHES, N.Y. -- A New York man thought he'd been sent his recently deceased father's belongings from a funeral home.

But it turned out that the plastic bag he was sent contained a human leg -- and it wasn't his father's.

Christopher Runyan says he smelled a foul odor coming from the plastic bag he'd been sent. He says he found a leg with a blue toe tag indicating it came from a completely different person.

Police are investigating, but say it doesn't appear to be a criminal matter. The hospital where the man's father died is also checking what happened. The funeral home is claiming no responsibility.
