Pope has the flu and cancelled apprences
could this be code words for "The Pope is dying"

NO flames. This always seems to be the case when someone big in europe is dying.

4. He has been!
I remember when Pope Paul VIth was pope, my Grandmother was in Italy. She went to the Vatican for the weekly audience as was told it was cancelled due to illness. He died a week or two later.

3. Ugh - - -
I can't even look at the guy, he makes me so upset. Hopefully the next Pope will be more accepting of progress made in the 20th century (but I'm not holding my breath).

7. Oh, definitely. He will be canonized.
He is one of the most beloved popes in the history of the Catholic Church. I agree with you on that.

8. i wouldn't be surprised if the canonization papers
Edited on Tue Feb-01-05 11:04 AM by pres2032
are already filled out. His canonization porcess will go faster than Mother Theresa's.

11. I'm not so sure
He waived the 5 year rule for Bl. Mother Theresa, his successor would need to do the same for him.

I am sure that as soon as His Holiness is gone there will be prayers asking for the necessary miracles.

9. Not necessarily
His Holiness is a tenacious bugger, he has fallen ill and had cancelled appearences before, then rallied to better health.

All that we really know is that he is not well, that he has not been well for several years, but that he is getting the best medical treatment available.

The Sacred College is going to gather within the next few years, but exactly when we do not know.

12. I think that has been confirmed
His Holiness's hands have been very shakey for several years - a prime indicator of parkinson's.
