What color are your kitchen pot holders?
And more to the point, what color SHOULD they be?

I've received three PMs in the last 48 hours on this subject, and frankly, I had never given it any real thought.

But then I realized, Damn, with Martha Stewart in the slammer, the entire landscape of kitchen fashion is spiraling out of control. The PMs have pointed this out to me and let's just say it was a wake-up call at my house.

When will she be back, and what if kitchen pot holders are not among her first priorities once she's released?

We need guidance in these matters.

Any thoughts you may have would be deeply appreciated.

1. Mine are black because . . .
they match my black and grey marble counter-tops, and contrast well with my white appliances.

But what do I know?

2. My what ?

Maybe if I bought some, it might actually look like I spent time in my kitchen ? But for the most part, I don't think one needs pot holders to handle fast-food and takeout containers ...

3. Unfortunately, I'm probably in that boat with you...
I have one red, one green and white check and one cream. Fortunately, I did recently put my bedroom and bathroom together (finally).

4. bwahaha.... just be sure your pot holders and dish towels
don't clash... Kitchen cloth brawls can be so unseemly.

5. Mine have a coffee bean theme, the fabric is printed to look like
coffee beans scattered around on a tan background with a steaming cuppa joe in the middle. They are also old and beat up but they keep my hands from getting burned.

all my dishtowels and washing cloths are white, easy to dump all in the washer w/lots of bleach to get them clean.

6. Red,
they should be red.

At Christmas I saw pots for sale at Sears. Nice pots, beautiful pots, Martha Stewart pots. I bought them. They wer SO on sale. They wer less than half the price of comparable pots. I believe Sears must be dumping Martha Stewart. We also got some 600TPI sheets at a price we couldn't pass up. They're very nice, but IMO never worth the original asking price. Perhaps sanity is returning to this portion of the marketplace. If so Martha will suffer, for my observation has been that a good deal of her profit margin must have been gratuitous mark up.

BTW the pot holders are easy to find because the red contrasts with our mostly neutral kitchen.

7. Ok, everybody. Your suggestions and comments are great --
-- but you're making me feel like I'm behind the times.

Should I choose pot holder colors in and of themsevles or should I fret over whether they'll match the paint on the walls?
