1/2 an inch of ice here so far, with more to come. Ask me anything!

1. Where are you?
As soon as I can digitize some of this Florida Sunshine, I'll e-mail it to you.

4. Hopefully you don't need to leave the house for anything.
I always bust my arse on ice and it is neither pretty nor funny.

Got any Ang Lee films on video? }(

7. Yeah, we're good
We have ample supplies, and a gas stove and gas hot water heater, so even if we lose power we'll be in good shape. Plus, we've got our good ol' Dish CounchPotato Classic package (more channels than any human could possibly be interested in). And, as my partner ever so romantically says, "At least we have stuff to do. Like each other," I think he's made plans for this afternoon. Ahem.

8. Us too. Just helped an AJC delivery guy get up the hill.
Edited on Sat Jan-29-05 11:33 AM by bunkerbuster1
We live on a dead-end that's very steep. Saw an ealy 90s Corrolla making multiple attempts to climb back up the hill.

Light bulb went off--I never DID remember to include those old snow chains with my last car that I sold. Said chains were sitting in a pristine condition in my garage (and they don't fit my newer car in any case, so it's not like I could use them).

Long story short--we fitted the chains on the car, and he's on his way. Hope he can finish his route without totalling his car.

I think this is my penance for referring to the AJC as the "Urinal and Constipation" earlier this week. Am I forgiven?

15. You've done your penance
I'm in South Carolina--thanks for sending the ice this way you Georgia folks! Right now it's not to bad in my part of the state-just freezing rain and some sleet mixed in. We're in kind of a lull right now. I've gotten five different forecasts from the three tv stations, the weather channel & accuweather so I have no idea what it's going to do in the overnight hours. Sunny south my ass.

16. I've already got busy ragging on the AJC on another discussion thread.
since I've got my absolution.

It's getting really, really awful out here, BTW. Supposed to continue icing up another 12 hours at least, and everything's coated with at least a half-inch or more.

Yeah, it gets pretty danged cold here in the "sunny south" sometimes. Practically speaking, I don't really see that much of a change day-in/day-out from when we lived in NJ; it's just that the winters are shorter, is all (and of course the expected lowest temps are a little milder.)

Stay in, stay safe, Shopaholic. I know it's hard for a, um, shopaholic.

9. Me too! Not going anywhere today.........
It's much thicker here, so my day at the movies is postponed. Not much to do but either sit here and play on DU all day or clean my house. I wonder which one will win.

10. I'm trapped, too.
Edited on Sat Jan-29-05 11:39 AM by RebelOne
Even if I could go anywhere, the doors on my car are frozen shut. My neighbor measured the ice and we have 3/4 of an inch. And the branches of the trees around my house are hanging dangerously low. I'm in Woodstock, just northwest of Atlanta.

17. I miss the snow from my NYC metro area days
ice storms are the pits no matter where you live.

I'd so much rather be gliding on snow, on my XC skis, in a local park. but nooooooooo.
