3. I saw Ray and the boys years ago

and I had the flu and STILL had the time of my life. Lo-La, La La La Lo-La.

They were as hip as hip can be but chilled enough to be gracious to a 13-year old.

Also I had just recently figured out what "House of the Rising Sun" was about, and damn it, I was pretty hip, too.

4. The Animals...The ORIGINAL sullen badass band...

back in the day when even Keith Richard was still bobbing his head and grinning like some cheesy showbiz twit.
The Kinks, for the most part, came off a little too...English

5. They had an incredibly cool sound in the beginning

But I am a dedicated Davies fanboy. I all but wear a Kinks beanie to bed each night. The New Animals however were an atrocity visited upon an unsuspecting public that tarnished the memory of the original Animals pretty thoroughly.

somewhat with The Eric Burdon Band of the mid 70s. Criminally overlooked.
