I MET HILLARY CLINTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As some as you may know, I am a *hyuuuuuuge* Hillary fan; she's been my idol ever since I have memory of politics. I've always wanted to meet her, and tonight, I got my chance.
I'm a member of the Boston College Democrats, and we received a block of 20 student tickets for a fundraising even for Sen.Blanche Lincon (D-AR), Sen. Barbra Boxer (D-CA), Sen.Patty Murray (D-WA), and Sen.Barbara Mikulski (D-MD). Hillary was an honorary guest. The fundraiser, obviously, was about empowering women and getting more of us chicks into politics. The theme was "It's a man's world...Unless women vote"
So it was in a Sheriton in Boston, and we arrived early to eat some food, and, most importantly, get good seats. The room was standing room only, so we got the VERY VERY first row. I was excited because I brought my camera and my "Living History" book and had the small hope of shaking her hand.
Well, not only was Hillary FANTASTIC, but hte other women was amazing as well. Boxer was my hight- about 4'11''!! It was an amazing experience to hear them all speak, and I was happy just being able to be there.
When the speeches ended, the crowd started to leave so I thought that was that and there would be no chance at meeting any of them. But then people who stayed saw that the Senators were coming down the front row shaking people's hands and taking pictures. A woman from the Hillary camp was kind enough to ask us if we brough our books, and a few of us did, so she gathered them up, asked for our names, and took them to Hillary to be signed. Meanwhile, Hillary was coming down the row, and I started getting giddy. She stopped at talked with me for a moment and took a picture with me!!! I told her she had been my idol and inspiration for many years, and she thanked me for that saying she hoped I followed my dreams (yes, hocky, but dammit, it was awesome!!). I shook Boxer's hand as well too.
And the book she signed- it's in my name :) "To Genevieve- best wishes!"
I know, corny as hell...but there is NOTHING that compares to meeting your idol.
Whew!! :)

5. That is too cool!
My sister got to go on a field trip to meet the Clintons when they came here to Champaign in the early 90's. She was about 11 at the time and she got to meet Richard Lewis, too. She got his autograph on a Clinton/Gore sign. Sadly, we lived in a basement apartment and it got moldy and ruined.

7. Congrats WindRavenX!
That would have been something. I don't know if I would have been brave enough to talk to my hero, or anybody who's famous for that matter. I would have been all nervous and probably unable to get my words to come out right. Anyway, congratulations.

8. I'm so happy for you . . . let me share a little story
When Bill Clinton was running for President back during that Superbowl speech no one in my family had ever heard of the Clintons, although we were inclined to vote Democratic.

Well my parents and I listened to the apologies/explanations about Gennifer Flowers and frankly I wasn't impressed with what Bill had to say, however at the same time my Dad was listening to (a fellow Chicagoan) Hillary and this is what my old Conservative WWII veteran Dad had to say, "I have to support him, he had the good sense to marry a very intelligent woman."

Well, I just looked at my Mom and said, "That's probably the best compliment Dad has ever given you."

So after that, I worked for Clinton in 1992 and Mom and I went to the Inaugural concert.

Dad had cancer during those years but one of the last things he ever did was to go out in 1996 and hammer a Clinton Gore sign into the front yard.

11. Lucky You!
My "printable" fantasy concerning Hillary would be to have dinner with her and "talk shop" all night...I would dearly love to pick her brain on how to fix this mess Dumbya got us into...

12. Oh, what I would give to talk one on one with her
The woman has been destroyed by the media and has gone through countless hardships emotionally. I want to ask her, what has kept her going? Why expose yourself still to that?
Only a woman with a strong spirit, that's why...

13. You took the words right out of my mouth
Where does she get the strength to endure such abuse? I literaly cried when I heard she was running for the Senate because I knew what the campaign would entail-and every fear I had was realized. Her support system must be phenomenal.
