Its July 1991, where are you?
The poll about 1991 albums reminded me of a great holiday I had, I was still a kid and me and my whole extended family drove down to Tenby South Wales in a 15 car convoy.

We rented a whole row of apartments... its one of the best memories of my childhood. Except the part were my cousin pushed me in the deep end of the swimming pool (I couldn't swim) and I nearly drowned,

Where were you in July 1991?

2. In a horrible job as a word processor
listening to the receptionist talk about her cat who had kittens. Her Abyssinian refused to mate with a chosen stud, one night the cat got out and on a morning in July three beautiful little Aby mix kittens were born. Lily, the smallest and last born, was the most beautiful.

I took her home on Labor Day Weekend, and here she is:

3. In Colombia, SA
on my honeymoon. Went with my in laws and extended family- if you can believe it.

Such a beautiful country and people. Haven't been back since. Just too dangerous for the kids.

But, Grandma still lives on her 40 acre farm near Ibage. Cooks on her oven out in the field. Didn't have running water or electricity until 10 yrs ago when we insisted that she needed it. She's been mad ever since cause now she's got bills to pay!!

7. Deep inside the forest,
not that kind of forest, a real one, playing my guitar with my "boyfriend" at the time. Didn't know Nirvana existed yet, didn't know Clinton would be elected yet. Actually, if I could build a time machine, I'd use it to re-enjoy the 90's and while I was back there, I'd warn Clinton about Monica and September 11th. Not that he could have done anything about Sept. 11, but he could try maybe. Dipshit sure didn't try to stop the day from being such a total tragedy. How he managed to squander all the goodwill and sympathy the whole freaking world had for our country, I'll simply never understand.

and helping very dear friends cope with the death of their infant daughter.

However, my husband and I surprised his family in Ireland with a visit and we had a super time. It was first time I'd been back to Ireland in 10 years.

I remember people asking me in Ireland if Bush I would be re-elected and I said I hoped he wouldn't but knowing the stupidity of the American people he probably would. Boy was I glad I was wrong about that.

35. Austin, Texas.
Working as a personnel clerk for the "Evil Empire" (the IRS). Once again separated from immature boyfriend Tim (we had a really unstable relationship- back and forth, back and forth), and planning for a dream trip to Italy in September with my mom and a friend.

It was amazing-- got back from Italy, didn't care if he lived or died. Europe can do that to a girl! Thank goodness he's history.

36. Getting ready to move to the UK for a while...
I graduated university in 1991, during the "first" Bush recession. Since there were no jobs for liberal arts grads here, I decided to get a student work visa for the UK.

The visa was good for six months from the day of arrival. I landed at London Gatwick on the 24th of July, and got a job in a busy London pub a few days after that. Although it was a lot of hard work, for not much pay (I topped out around £3/hr, plus lodging), it was one of the greatest times I've ever had.

Recovering my from college boyfriend who broke my heart. Prepping to move to San Francisco and start my new life. And somewhere in there, I was in a movie theater watching "Terminator 2."
