I guess the contestants aren't allowed to bring instruments into the auditions. I remember a time when "American Idols" played an instrument, usually the electric guitar.

They don't want any real talent in there, they would be to hard to control. I am 41, play 4 instruments and have been entertaining audiences in clubs and various venues for 22+ years. I could carry a guitar in there and sing them a song that would destroy 99.9% of the posers that walk through that door.

However, they don't want old salts like me around, we'd be all too quick to tell them to go fuck themselves the second they tried to screw us around.
