Man recovers from nail gun accident

Patrick Lawler tried everything to get rid of his toothache. He ate ice cream. He took painkillers. And finally, he took himself to the dentist, where an x-ray revealed the source of his discomfort.
Unknown to Mr Lawler, there was a four inch nail embedded in his skull. The 23-year-old construction worker, using a nail gun, it seems, had accidentally fired the nail into his mouth while working at a ski resort in the central Colorado mountains.

"He had been eating ice cream to help the swelling," said his sister, Lisa Metcalse, following a four-hour operation to have the nail removed.

"The doctors said, 'if you're going to have a nail in the brain, that's the way you want it to be'. He's the luckiest guy, ever."
