Sad. I've got the scanner on while I'm getting dressed...
to start my day.

And, a half-hour ago, the dispatcher told a sheriff's deputy to go to X address, home of X lawyer, that she had received a 911 hang-up call.

Well, when I heard the scoundrel lawyer's name, I paid attention. He's well known for beating each of his past four wives. He has live-in pre-wife number five now.

So, as two deputies radio back to say they are headed to said scoundrel lawyer's home, the dispatcher radios again to say to 10-25, which means not to go, that the lawyer had called and everything was ok, that the 911 call was an accident. (Yeah, right.)

So, the two deputies 10-4, 10-8, and then they go to scrambled signal to talk to each other. I am positive, knowing his history, they decided to go on to his home anyway.

Just a few seconds ago, one of the deputies radioed back in to say that he is J-1 with a white male from the lawyer's address. Ha! They arrested the fucker for beating yet another woman.

(Everybody in my hometown knows his history. Why would ANY woman, no matter how desperate, want to live with a habitual wife beater?)

Anyway, the sleaze is now in jail. HA!

2. Some women are afraid that if they
put him in jail and he kicks her out they will have no place to live. That or they might be co-dependent. Personally, I would think she should put him in jail, move out, and sue him.

3. You'd think he'd have been disbarred by now
Habitual wife beating is sort of...um, unethical, don't you think?

6. He's soooo sleazy....
and he hasn't been disbarred over other unethical things he's done.

He's been arrested before for beating his previous wives.

4. In my hometown, a city judge who kept beating his wife...
...was able to keep it under wraps for years, despite the serious injuries incurred by her (she admitted the abuse to my ex-wife, who was her co-worker at the newspaper they both wrote for). I'm not sure if he was ever brought to justice, however.

No lie - he once actually THREW HER DOWN THE STAIRS, breaking her arm...:grr:

5. Does this POS practise criminal defense law? corporate law? what?
If you know. Unfortunately many lawyers, like legislators and judges, consider themselves above the law. I handled some cases of attorney malpractise - one atty. had a gambling addiction and squandered his blue chip clients' trust funds; the other developed a brain tumor and started missing crucial deadlines for court filings. The insurance companies properly paid out on the claims. I learned that the gambler/embezzler had pulled the same thing while a partner at a prestigious law firm,, but the firm had paid off the claims privately, rather than have bad publicity over the matter. The firm took no action to get the lawyer's license revoked. He went into private practise, taking many of his still-to-be-embezzled clients with him. It took several years before everything hit the fan again. What I learned is that the cases that go public and some lawyer is disbarred - it's nearly always some solo practitioner with no political connections - often a criminal defense atty. who's become a drug addict or alcoholic. Otherwise it gets swept under the rug.

7. Criminal defense, lawsuits, you name it...
whatever he can get.

He's an alcoholic, or so I've heard. He joined the baptist church in town not long ago...guess he won't be there today. :D

8. Well your cops are good folks, for knowing who they're dealing with and
for taking procedures a step further.

Hopefully #5 will get out while she still can.

9. She thinks she's different, and believes the "they were crazy bitches"
thing.

When a guy's talking his talk, women give a guy the benefit of the doubt (reason 3487293879387492379 they're different than hetero men) and believe the story that "ex 1 was a crazy bitch, and ex 2 just did what ex 1 did to ruin my career...

And he's looking deep into her eyes, treating her like she's special...until he pops her one.

11. Exactly tjdee
And restraining orders? WTF do they do? How does a f*cking piece of paper help a woman from getting beaten?

12. Yeah, so AFTER he violates the restraining order and breaks her arm/ribs,
or god forbid her neck, they can throw him in jail.
Great deterrent, LOL.

10. Reminds me of a guy I met in cyberspace
He was a board bully. Always went after the women. Very verbally abusive. One day he told me he was sure I smelled. Another time he said I had thinning hair. I mentioned this to a counselor I know who works in a battered women's shelter and she said that is a common insult by wife beaters. Have you all ever heard this before? Do these abusive men tel their women they smell and criticize their looks?

13. They do criticize their looks.
At least the ones I know of...one told his girlfriend that no one would ever want her because she was fat, lazy, what have you... and the second kind of did it in a weird kind of..."gee, Pamela Anderson is so hot...why can't you do x, y, z to get that way..."

14. Yes, several of the other women posters on that board
jumped all over the guy for that comment and he just started in on them, same deal, they smelled, had bad teeth, etc.

So I looked for a link to a study or something from a pro verifying that criticizing looks is a common characteristic of men who abuse women. I wanted to post that to shut the guy up by humiliating him or at least alerting the other members of that group that we women were not just being touchy. But I couldn't find anything on the internet.

So if any of you know of any formal studies on this, post a link. I would love to go back to that board - even though it's been months since I stopped posting there - and post a link to a study.
