Out of town guests showing up in less than 3 hours. And what am I doing?
Dicking around on the internet.

There's something wrong with me. Seriously. I haven't seen these people in over a year, they are some of my closest friends, I'm very excited, but instead of finishing up what I have to do around here, I'm here.

I need to kick my OWN ass.

I still have to finish mopping, finish vaccuuming, clean the kitchen counters, and do dishes. That's not as much as I DID have to do (I have done a lot), but damn. How does one kick one's own ass?

8. Ahem
My friend who lives near me? I've done that to her. I realized I was being rude, though.

How embarrassing. I just HAD to check DU. ADDICT!!!

2. You still have three hours.
It won't take that long. You can wait for another two hours or so.

3. I think it means you feel pretty comfortable with them,
that you aren't totally bent out of shape about making sure the house is perfect.

Good luck with the guests!

7. Oh I'm definitely comfortable with them.
And I'm not doing this for them or me but my husband who gets all embarrassed if even the OLDEST of friends sees our house less than spotless.

The man has a problem. And since I was off work today, I said I'd clean so that he wouldn't have to be embarrassed.

Hell the people who are coming live in a pig sty! LOL!

4. Visualize it all finished....
that doesn't sound like three hours worth of work. If you quickly do it, you can get back to the Internet. When they show up, you can act, all, "wow, I was so excited to see you I finished everything up way ahead of time, and so I had extra time to kill so I went online."

11. With all that cage match stuff you've been practicing, I'll bet
kicking your own ass would hurt quite a bit. An ass kicking from Skittles might actually be less painful. :P

13. get them to help...
just tell them you have been under the weather and you couldn`t get anything done. just leave some clorox wipes in the bathroom, put the dishs in the sink and fill with soap and water, open the vaccum like it`s broke, and the hell with mopping .should take less than 1o minutes to do all that......

16. No, no, no!!!!!!!!!!!!
You clean up AFTER they leave, not before they arrive.

I mean, they're your friends. They're not there to inspect your home.

Relax. Enjoy your weekend.

17. Well now that's good advice!
Wish I could get it through my husband's head. It's him I'm doing this for, not them. He gets really mortified at the thought of ANYONE seeing our house less than spotless.

I've tamed his neatfreakiness for the most part, but can't kill off this one last vestige of it.

18. Then ............
... let him do the cleaning.

As we say, it's his baby - let him rock it.

Admit it - he's better at cleaning than you are, isn't he?
