I've got two kanker sores on the tip of my tongue, and a bad-ass cold sore on my upper lip.
I just hope to God I'm not at any increased risk for Bells Palsy now that this happened. I'll be damned if I get that. My father had that a few years ago, and it made his life a living hell.

I hope it passes you by.
I've never had Herpes but find myself currently stricken with Bell's Palsy (since last Tuesday) and it is aweful. The doctors think that the combination ear infection and sinus infection I had over New years set it off.
Hope your father is feeling better now.

Augmentin (was already on it for sinus infection & ear infection, they extended the scrip), Prednisone, and acyclovir. Plus some sort of anti-biotic eye ointment. So far, i'm noticing no change and a lot of pain on that side of my jaw. But, it has only been a week.

Believe it or not swishing saurkraut juice around in your mouth will cut the time you have the sore in half. You can apply the juice to your lip with a q-tip. I don't know why it works--but it does.

If you get canker sores frequently (I used to) you may want to try a toothpaste that does not contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) - I use Rembrandt Anit-Canker toothpaste and it really helps. It's pricey but worth it. My son had the same problem and it helped him too. We must have an allergy to that chemical.
