Her rendition of Yellow Submarine is priceless. Barring that, look for her Girl From Ipanema. Unbelievable scat singing.

Dan Bern, aka Bernstein, aka Dan Bern and the International Jewish Banking Conspiracy :)

Not only is he a talented musician, he's got a wicked sense of humor, and he's an all around nice guy. He's also a Bush loather. What's not to like? :)

20. "The Light Programme" - Martin Newell
Any Martin Newell will do.

http://www.cherryred.co.uk/cherryred/artists/martinnewe...

His latest offering is 'jazz-tinged' while his earlier stuff is very much in the tradition of the Kinks circa "Village Green".

I think you might enjoy him.

23. Apples iTunes music store has some good resources.
I've bought all kinds of stuff recently that i would have never even known about. If you like a certain song, they have some handy lists of what else people bought when they bought that song. It gives a good cross reference to stuff you may not have ever heard. They also have an area called Mixes where poeple list their favorite stuff. I've found some good stuff there too.

26. SnakeFarm and Juana Molena and Radim Zenkl
Both are kinda techno. SnakeFarm is a strange mixture of traditional folk with techno/pop. Mesmerizing...

Juana Molena is from Brazil. Her CD Segundo is a very listenable techno/pop with Brazilian overtones.

Then there's Radim Zenkl. He's a mandolin whiz from Chechloslovakia. His CD Galactic Mandolin is excellent.

A bit mellow though, kind of like...Simon and Garfunkel maybe.

45. If you like 60s bubblegum pop, give some of Curt Boettcher's work a try
Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 09:52 PM by jpgray
His work on The Millennium's "Begin" produced at least three brilliant but very syrupy tracks--"To Claudia on Thursday", "It's You" and "There Is Nothing More to Say". Also check out Pink Floyd's very primitive '65 demo "Lucy Leave" for Floyd that doesn't suck. Also get Radio Waves by Can for two great B sides "Shikaku Maru Ten" and "Turtles Have Short Legs".

If you have Soulseek, these are only a few clicks away.

:D

50. Josh Freese, "The Notorious One Man Orgy"
Ya gotta respect a man who would release an album in 2004 that has a cut entitled "Why Won't Left Eye Get With Me?"

Okay, it's just some drummer putting out his own album. Anyone who remembers the "KISS Peter Criss" album can understand how bad these things can be...but Josh Freese is a better drummer than Peter Criss, and Freese's album is better than Criss's.
