Your most successful thread
We have all posted threads that goes down faster than a bottle of scotch in the Oval office, but once in a while we start a thread that takes off.
Do you remember your most successful thread and what it was about?
And for the newer people here, yeah...we all had threads that bombed so don't get frustrated.

Mine was the one about a student who was allergic to just about everything and the school was asked to keep their school allergy free for this one student. It went well beyond 200 posts.
What was yours?

a thread with 7 replies.
Today one went down with zero.

My favorite one that did pretty well was the "What's your earliest political memory" thread.

7. I think it was just last night
I had a thread in here about wanting to cage fight any of the weenie guys on DU and I don't remember how many responses it got...over 100?

Then there is a thread in GD about an email I got from a (now former) friend in which she recommends nuking Iraq. Last I looked, that was at around 232 responses.

I do have a lot drop, though. I don't worry about it, they weren't meant to be.

And I try to respond to threads that I see that are "orphans" just sitting there, dropping with 0 responses. Makes me sad.

how you became a Democrat/Progressive/liberal or a thread about what kind of booze are you drinking tonight. Both were pretty popular, not sure what that says about DU but whatever...

11. A thread asking people to
name their favorite flavor of ice cream for a class homework assignment my daughter brought home. She had to poll twenty people and I knew she'd get at least that many responses. I think she got more than 50 before the thread died.

It's continually frustrating, of course, to start a thread that you think is genuinely important and watch it rapidly disappear.

One was about my mother's breast cancer diagnosis

The other was the one I posted about the whacked out woman who verbally abused me and spit on my car at the grocery store on Good Friday.

14. Probably a GD one surprisingly.
This one:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=2565036

My one in the lounge today has gotten a lot of replies, but I didn't really contribute much to it, nor was it so much an original thought. I had another lounge post about a year and a half ago concerning that a lot of DU seemed "not kid-friendly" that got a lot of replies, but I've since grown to realize not everyone has to like kids (and that it's no skin off my nose).

16. I had one with over 500 posts in GD regarding defining rape
At the time several men had problems understanding exactly when NO meant NO and when NO meant rape...so I proposed a hypothetical question...if a woman says yes to vaginal sex, but no to anal sex and a man penetrates her anally without her permission, is it rape?

It was one of the biggest flame fests of its day even though the answer certainly seemed obvious to me ;-)

17. My most successful thread was never meant to be a big deal.
I just commented about feeling like a socialist at heart when I saw how the uber rich lived when so many in our country have so little. Not only did it get more replies than any other thread I started on DU in was picked up by the freepers & use to point out how I was a pinko commie. I was sooooo proud!

24. I believe the one I posted about
Rep. Pete Sessions streaking as a college boy got quite a few replies. (Damn! no archive search. Now is really not the time for this thread, heh.)

And, of course, about once a week I get the chance to start the Olbermann Estrogen Brigeade nightly blog thread. We average 2-300 replies of wit, wisdom, and discourse about ties, but I can't really take credit for those since they'd exist whether or not I was there. However, it is quite gratifying to see a thread with your username on it go streaking along merrily. (No reference to the first story intended, heh. :P )

It's so much easier to get responses in the state forums, although it's not as fast moving. Perhaps that's why?

28. Well of course I don't
I think most people post a thread hoping for at least one response. I just used the word "success" because chances are, no matter what word I used someone here would find some way to question the use of the word I used.

35. a three word thread.
I don't remember how many posts there were before it died, but it went on for several days on the first page of the lounge. It really got my post count up in the beginning when I was too chicken to post anywhere but the Lounge.

the thread made some pretty good prose, IMO, which was my intention.

37. I had maybe two or three "popular" threads
One could likely be seen as flamebait - it was soon after I joined. It was a thread about greens vs dems.

Another, I still think was a great thread (one of the few good ones I've started), about anti-intellectualism in American society. I remember that one getting a lot of replies.

...of course it helps to post a "hot" topic, but that one was my first little "flamey icon" thread, not sure how much over 30 it went.

I find a thread sucessful if it earns the (View All). That makes me all jiggy.

My proudest DU accomplishment is earning my 1000+ without having ya'll "ask me anything"
