Pitt wanted kids, Aniston didn't, she keeps the $13.5 million mansion.
The short update on Ani-Pitt-gate.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,143810,00.html

LOS ANGELES — Brad Pitt's (search) overwhelming desire to have children sunk his marriage to Jennifer Aniston (search), after the "Friends" star decided to put motherhood on hold to pursue her acting career, a pal of the power couple said.

Pitt will now move out of the couple's $13.5 million Beverly Hills mansion, as Aniston keeps the home as the base of operations for her campaign to continue with a full schedule of big-screen roles.

A pal said Aniston doesn't want to take the time off to have a kid — and she doesn't want to endure the physical effects that giving birth will have on her sexy body.

If she's not ready to put their needs first, then she really is not ready. I credit her with at least realizing that.

6. Well, if she actually said that, it seems like....
...she's the person I always believed her to be in "real life."

I remember the noise she made when her "designer" wedding ring was copied by a knock-off jeweler...she took the thing to court, screaming all the way, and she got the pay-off she wanted.

BTW...I seem to remember the news of them buying that house for $8.5 million, so she's made a nice little $5 million profit.

Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 01:13 PM by XanaDUer
I don't see a direct quote from her on this. And, even if this is so, so what?

Not all women want to have kids, and their reasons vary.

Stretch marks are the least of it. Try varicose veins, killer hemorrhoids, gestational diabetes, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and I can totally understand not wanting to have kids.

Especially since women are judged by how they look, whether they are famous or not.

52. Not to mention
"Not all women want to have kids, and their reasons vary."

She's at the peak of her earning potential and does not want to interrupt her career. I certainly don't judge her -- men rarely have to choose -- but I expect the celebrity media to depict her as self-absorbed to pander to the alleged 'traditional values' climate.

15. uh- that's a reporter not even Quoting an unnamed source
"A pal said Aniston doesn't want to take the time off to have a kid — and she doesn't want to endure the physical effects that giving birth will have on her sexy body."

fuck-this is why I don't read MSM-they picked up this shitty little trick from the gossip rags.

So let's see if I get this right-Jennifer Aniston's life choices are being judged here over something an unnamed source told an unnamed reporter. Who is this "pal?" Best friend? Best friend's cleaning lady? Nodding acquittance who likes to tell people she knows Ms Aniston? Or the manicurist of the nodding acquaintance?

"Really Susan, having a baby would put a strain on my sexy body. That's why Brad and I must split."

I don't think so. Really. :eyes:

Our first amendment rights should not override someone else's fourth amendment rights.

Pay attention to the source. It's REALLY important when it's actual news.

36. What does that say?
Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 03:16 PM by Zing Zing Zingbah
I can relate to how she's feeling. I've had one kid. I was lucky enough to come out of the pregnancy with very little damage to my body. I have a few stretch marks in my pubic area, but no one else can see them even when I wear a bikini bathing suit. I've really gotten into working out a lot since last year and now my body looks better than it did before I was pregnant. I'm not particularly interested in having to go through losing all the weight again, which is something I would probably have to do if I got pregnant again. There's other reasons why I think I don't want another too. She might have other reasons too. However, I don't think there's anything wrong with her deciding not get pregnant because she wants to maintain her health and her appearance. It's her choice and her body, after all.

14. I thought I was a tad harsh, but those celebrity marriages are twofold:
1. Shallow selfish trophy hunting.

2. Destined to fail because of said vanity (point #1). Marriage is a private, special thing. These celebrities (all of whom must surely be mentally ill) make a mockery of it (from Jen to Ben to Britney) and act as if they're all big shots by flaunting it. They love attention (hence the mental illness accusation) and will do anything upon ANYTHING in order to get in the news. For better or for worse, celebrities are interesting - but I do not care when or who they do the horizontal blender with.

9. Brad's phone sex killed marriage
THE phone sex session with Angelina Jolie that ended Brad Pitt's marriage to Jennifer Aniston was just the latest in an intense relationship that had been raging for nearly a year.

The News of the World broke the news in October that Brad and Jen's marriage was doomed.

We can now reveal it hit the rocks last February when Brad and Angelina played a married couple in the film Mr & Mrs Smith. A source close to the couple told us: "When Brad and Angelina's relationship reached a head over the summer, they were so close they were acting as if it was ‘the real thing.'

I hope it doesn't turn into 'that skanky temptress Angelina took Brad away from wittle precious Jennifer'.

That would be unfortunate.

Though, Angelina has a child. If Brad was interested in having kids, I'm sure he saw Angelina in the light of a woman who maintains her sexy persona in spite of having a child to care for.

I guess it's hard to understand to a degree and I have known men who wanted kids, but their wives put it off until it was too late, so I guess it happens. Better than bringing children into the world when someone isn't sure about having them. No one should feel forced to have a child when they aren't sure about it.

As for physical effects, no I don't look as perfect after children as before, but it's not all that horrible either. Maybe if I made my living off my looks, I'd think differently though. Seems like the emotional considerations are more important than the physical ones though.

have kids and believe it or not, I actually find myself feeling sorry for Brad Pitt. I bet he thought they'd have kids. (Note to Jennifer in case she ever changes her mind: It's really not THAT big of a deal, body wise, and you have access to the best personal trainers and plastic surgeons in the world if it comes to that....look at all the women who have had babies and look terrific!) On edit: I do respect people who KNOW they don't want kids. It's better than having them because you feel pressured to!

Now, look at him. Divorced. In his 40s. Still no kids. I can empathize. When you want to be a parent, it's just an ache inside. My husband wanted a child so badly he resorted to begging on his hands and knees (literally). He was so charming, he won me over. Plus I thought it might take a while (happened right away).

66. Oh My God! A woman doesn't want kids! STOP THE PRESSES
Jesus.

I guess I don't really give two shits about them or their relationship or whether they wanted kids or didn't or whatever...but you know, people, alot of these kinds of conflicts can be avoided if they're discussed PRE-MARRIAGE....

Of course, that doesn't negate the fact that minds can change during time, and I find it insulting that the "reporter" in this story (whether his/her own commentary, or the commentary of the 'pal') would use the "didn't want to fuck up her sexy body" excuse ---because you know, ALL women who don't have kids are TOTALLY not having kids because it will mess up their bodies... :eyes:

Sigh. I wish for the day when Reproductive Choices are realized to be just that---CHOICES. She has just as much right to NOT want a kid as he has to WANT one. Unfortunately (or not really, since I don't care about them or their marriage), many marriages end over this. As a woman, I'd never want to be forced to have a child just to please my mate, or to be forced not to have a child to please my mate.

Such things happen.

Why isn't there a story about my neighbors who are getting a divorce? Certainly their lives are just as compelling as these pesudo-celebrities, no? Plus, neither of my neighbors have a 13.5 million dollar house. They'll be splitting the resale value of the Vanagon and arguing for the next 5 years over visitation rights with their dogs.

67. You stole the words right off my keyboard...
I don't give two shits about what these two twits do. You'd think the tsunami disaster would have put life a little in perspective...you know...live your life instead of salivating over other people's lives. But...nah.

They just seemed to live their life out of the spotlight compared to a lot of the others, and seemed sweet together, like they were each other's best friends too. But then what the hell do I know. I'm just sorry to hear they've split.

I choose to think Angelina Jolie had nothing to do with it.

.. am I the only one who thinks Pitt should have kept his hair?

Some people look better with their hair cut off, Brad looks like Curly Howard.
