Sorry if this is the wrong mood for your post, but would you accept a personal thanks for that quotation of Lincoln's?

I'm embarrassed to say it's the first time I've stopped to read your signature quote, but reading it tonight, it just stopped me in my tracks.

I thought of how impoverished Bush is when he speaks, and then reading your signature quote from Lincoln -- a much earlier and much different Republican -- and was reminded of the addage that even the muddiest of streams has snow at its source.

I was just doing a silly copycat thread. I love this quote of Lincoln's. He made so many cogent remarks that it was hard to choose one, but this one just screamed at me because of its resemblance to what's happening today.
