New Creepy Ad: Dr. Pepper's Pedo Mom

Not only a stupid, shitty song, but using "Stacy's Mom" to sell Dr. Pepper, with a soccer mom mutually leering at prepubescent boys... creepy!

But I've not seen that commercial--if I recall the video correctly, it was more about the young boy thinking Stacy's mom was hot, thinking she was encouraging him....so I guess it's supposed to be less disturbing that the boy wants the mom than that the mom wants the boy.

Dr. Pepper is supposed to be the object of lust, but the Mom is looking at the boys with at LEAST as much suggestiveness. The boys are supposed to be fixated on the drink. But, one of them looks at her real longingly, and she smiles at him a little too creepily for a SODA AD. People will defend this ad (obviously very few people know that ad people have NO QUALMS about this kind of shit) by saying, "Oh, c'mon! She is just being a shiny happy suburban Stepford wife giving her son's friends some wholesome refreshments!" Uh huh. I know the ad business, and they GET OFF pulling this crap over the masses' heads.

This is part of the larger slide of capitalism into fascism... where deviant sex and marketing get more and more intertwined.

4. Yes this is how products are sold

Youd be surprised how much suggestion goes into ads. It all goes back to the crooked picture principle. If you hang a picture just a little crooked, people look at it more. Simply sex is not enough to grab the attention in an ad saturated world, you need to hit on a taboo. Look for pedophilia, incest and cannibalism all to be hinted at.

All you can really do in response is to culture jam....
