20. No
But we also have a cheese factory nearby that's sells cheese from all over the world, in addition to what they make. They don't make the Havarti, but always stock several kinds. They do however make the most wonderful fresh cheese curds.

10. Pick ONE cheese?
For munching I like havarti some days and sharp cheddar the next and swiss the next. For sandwiches sometimes I like swiss, sometimes provolone. Then there's Monterey Jack, mozzarella, parmaggiano reggiano, pecorino romano, Maytag blue...and on and on and on...

Edited on Tue Jan-04-05 07:14 PM by LDS Jock
Pepper Jack probably number one, but love mozzarella, cheddar, generic kraft american, melted velvetta (I know cheese snobs will frown on this)

32. Manchego
It's a Spanish cheese made with 100% goat's milk. Has this sublime, nutty flavor. Must be tried if you haven't. Trader Joe's usually carries it.

36. NO fair, can't pick just one! OK ColbyJack marble cheese is
my favorite all purpose do it all cheese; snacking, omelettes, mac/cheese,casseroles,etc. Makes a great grilled cheese or quesadilla

I also like the xtra sharp NY or Vermont cheddar to make Welsh Rarebit!
Have to make it at least one time every winter. Rich thick cheese sauce, on saltines w/onions and pickles.....heaven

we are always trying new cheeses around here: our favorite grocery, Central Market stocks about 400 kinds of cheese at any given time. So about once a month we try out a new one. Sometimes we bomb. Sometimes we fall in love. Just depends.

Try this:

1 cup shredded mozarella
1/2 cup mayo
1/2 cup soft butter

2 or 3 green onions

chop onions finely and combine w/other ingredients in food processor.

spread thickly on baguette rounds or halved french loaf.

Broil until bubbly.

don't burn your mouth!!!!!

40. What's the most aged cheddar you've tried?
I've had 14-year-old cheddar -- sampled at the Dane County Farmer's Market (but I ended up getting some younger stuff).

My favorite's probably the four-year cheddar -- best bang for the buck.

38. Well aged danish blue cheese. Stilton is good as well
and Roquefort, and cambizola, and . . . you get the picture. If it's moldy and smells like feet, I love it!

41. Does cream cheese count?
My boyfriend just made a yummy cream cheese hollandaise sauce, which we ate with brocolli.

Aside from that, my favorite cheese is aged swiss. Provolone used to be my favorite, but I must've gotten sick of it.

My boyfriend's favorites are Gouda and Edam. He claims to like head cheese, but I don't believe him...

42. The lyrics say it all. . .
Sweet dreams are made of cheese
Who am I to disagree?
Travel the world for crates of cheese
Everybody's looking for something to eat
Some of them want to melt it
Some of them want you to spread it by you
Some of them want to eat it whole
Some of them want to be on nachos

Sweet dreams are made of cheese
Who am I to disagree?
Travel the world to buy tons of cheese
Everybody's eats it on something
Some of them want to grate it
Some of them want to have it on pizza
Some of them want to carve it up
Some of them want it on crackers

I wanna see the moon and its cheese
I wanna know what's inside a sandwich of cheese
(Whispering) Open your mouth up, shove it in
Keep your plate up, spread it on
Hold your crackers up, melt it on
Keep your nachos up, serve it on
Hold your pizza up, Parmesan
Don't hog it all, move it 'round
Eat it all!

Sweet dreams are made of cheese
Why does everyone disagree?
Travel the world and see lots of cheese
Everybody prefers something
Some of them want to eat Gouda
Some of them want to get Cheddar, too
Some of them want some Mozzarella
Some of them want it stinky, too

I'm gonna use it and abuse it
I'm gonna eat it on everything
Gonna use it and re-use it
I'm gonna know what's inside it, too
