I can't stand daytime TV...
I'd rather watch paint dry than the crap that is on from 9am to 5pm. Maybe I should get a job or maybe they should bring back the old groovy game shows like Match Game. They need to bring back the original cast and cheezy sets even if it does mean resurrecting Gene Rayburn from the dead. Really is that so much to ask for?

11. I blame it on my wife.
she Tivo'ed it daily.. and it was either I watch it with her, or she endes up with 5 hours of days every weekend.. so I compromised, and now I watch it too.

15. Or if Tyler is the baby of Wayne or Tyrone, said lil' friendly Ginger...
Gawd, I so hate Maury Povich. Gag me with a spoon!

And now, I'm going to switch over to the local WB, where I can watch some wholesome Jerry Springer...

3. Well, if Game Show Network would quit showing the crap they show now
and get back to airing ALL classic game shows ALL the time, there would be no problem.

7. Seriously...
I remember about 10 years ago GSN had a great line-up. I would get home from school just in time to watch "To Tell The Truth" and "Whats My Line"...we need more Kitty Carlisle and less Dodge Ball and Celeberty Black Jack!

8. TTTT with Garry Moore, Password and Password Plus, Card Sharks,
Blockbusters, Pyramid, Gene Rayburn Match Game, TPIR, and lots of other good ones. At this point, I'd even take stupid ones like Body Language.

And Sunday Night In Black And White. I really miss Sunday Night In Black And White.

GSN was the reason we GOT satellite TV in '98. Now it's hardly worth having - a few token showings of Match Game, Card Sharks and Family Feud isn't good enough for me.

23. That seems to happen to new networks like GSN....they start out so
Edited on Mon Jan-03-05 08:26 PM by ikojo
promising by showing things people haven't seen in a long time. Nickelodeon started out by showing truly classic tv shows. Then they get popular or on more cable systems and they go down the drain.

Since Sir Michael Powell, Lord of the FCC, has said he will not even consider a la carte cable, there really is no pressure for these networks to go back to their glory days.

A network that has REALLY tanked is Tech TV...now it's all games all the time. Even the Screen Savers, which I loved when LEO was on SUCKS. Not everyone who watched Tech TV is a teenager or in his/her early 20s.

24. They all got GREEDY
Sony was never satisfied with the ratings Game Show Network was pulling from the "nostalgist" demographic, so they scrapped most of it, changed the name to GSN, bankrolled a ton of crappy shows, and are still pulling similar numbers to what they had before (.4-.5 share, at best). It's sickening to know what shows GSN has access to but will likely NEVER see the light of day ever again because they're simply not lucrative.

Same thing happened with Comcast regarding G4 and TechTV, but I think they never had any intention of supporting whatever shows TechTV had...they were only after the "real estate" (45 million home carriage) and planned to set forth their own "MAN-DATE" by dropping everything but their own gar-bage. Too bad they managed to alienate most of whatever additional households they brought in, and they're still pulling abysmal numbers (.2 at best).

26. Thank goodness I ran tape on Sunday nights years ago.
One day I'll transfer those tapes to DVD.

I wish I'd done it on more of the 70s shows also.

16. Why do the new ones suck?
Lingo was okay, but the others were cheezy, if not flawed.

I call one where everybody's on a roulette wheel and one spins the kerjiggy. Dpeending on who gets selected, they literally drop and theo ther person gets their cash. WTF. SOunds like a typical repuke show.

18. The new ones just don't have the chemistry of the old ones.
And the new hosts don't have the charisma of the old ones. Give me Garry Moore, John Daly, or Bill Cullen any day.

Match Game succeeded in its time because of the banter among the celebrities, led by the slightly naughty Gene Rayburn.

I miss the days of the network game show.

Did you see Tabitha's new year's eve party with all the demon guests? Even her "friends in the basement" got involved and shot confetti out through the vents. LOL

22. Life is so much better without TV
Seriously, give it up for awhile. You won't miss it. In fact, you will be surprised at how much better life is. Just give it a try. I gave up my Dish after the SciFi channel went to shit (crossing-over with that dumb-fuck John Edwards was the last straw), and network TV is incredibly stupid fascist propaganda and pablum. Now I don't watch TV at all, except for DVDs.

28. try TNT or Bravo
I got hooked on the TNT repeats of Law & Order, ER, Judging Amy ... shows I didn't watch much when they were on in prime time.

Bravo has West Wing repeats on at 11 and noon.

But you're right, daytime TV pretty much sucks worse than nightime TV.

Do you get Discovery Channel, Learning Channel, Animal Planet? You might find something better there.
