The best kitty in the world died this morning.
8 month old shelter cat--flame point siamese--the sweetest boy ever. Kisses, hand-holding, cuddled next to my chest at night. Fhiv or Leukemia--vet let me hold him while we sent him off...

Joey/Mojo/Jomentum/HolyJoe I'll miss you.

Gonna need an IV if I don't stop sobbing soon.

Vaya Con Dios, Jobaby. Mama's boy forever.

3. Wow, sorry.
Losing a pet sucks. I'm surprised the shelter didn't test for the diseases...

5. They did. It doesn't always show up when they're young...
He was negative yesterday, too, but all the symptoms were there, so it was viral or a brain lesion. My heart is broken. Thanks y'all for your kind words.

4. My condolences
But at the very least you gave him happiness during his short life. Rest easy--you will see him again. And you will always have him as a guardian angel. I have 5 guardian angels right now as well, and I talk to them all the time.

7. Tears shed for you here
I lost two to leukemia. It was horrible. You just have to remember not just what Jobaby gave you but what you gave him, too. You gave him love during his short little life that he would never had had otherwise.

The tears have to run their course, then you can start to take heart at the good memories.

My sympathies are with you.

And Jobaby is at peace.

22. The crying seems to be coming now from all the sweet memories bubbling up
--so fast and so vivid--and I know that it's a pure expression of love. I'm not sad (at the moment). I'd do it all over again from adoption to this morning without hesitation.

I feel ya, medeak.

16. I'm so sorry
but glad you got to hold your baby in your arms while he was sent off. It's somewhat of a consolation that we can do that one last thing for them, but the pain of losing a furbaby is almost unbearable.

18. I am so sorry for your loss.
Cats are wonderful and it sounds like you had an extra special relationship with Jobaby. I have a stray Siamese cat too (lilac point) and she's the love of my life.

My heart goes with you while you work through the sadness. After a while, try to remember the good times you both had too.

21. ginbarn and I send our condolences
A few years ago, ginbarn adopted a street kitty named Voodoo. Jet black, beautiful green eyes, a real livewire. But she also had feline leukemia, and it got so bad that Voodoo had to be put down.

We both share in your grief over your loss. :grouphug:

29. My 13 yr. old cat is very ill
and I should have had him put to sleep a few weeks ago, but I just couldn't do it over the holidays. So tomorrow I have to call the vet...sob, sob... So I can truly sympathize with you. They really do become a part of the family.

30. my deepest condolences. I know how that is, believe me
we had to have two put down last summer, one 13 years old and one 17 years old. One we were expecting to have to do, the other was a shock.

It is always tough to let them go, they really do get in there and take hold of you.

You gave him some extra time and lots of love in this world, you can bet on that.

36. So sorry. I know exactly how you feel
I lost my beloved Peewee, who I had raised from a two day old kitten-to cardiomyopathy in 2003. I had to have my "outside kitty" Jasper put down last year. He was about 17 years old, and had lost a leg to cancer and was living with FIV and kidney problems for three years. it's one of the most unfair facts in life that our furkids can't live as long was we do.
