21 grams is a terribly depressing film
Did anyone see that? I was impressed by the acting. Everyone did a great job. The non linear aspect was interesting, though I'm almost starting to wonder if it's becoming somewhat overused. What are some other non linear films? I like Pulp Fiction, then there's Memento.

1. But it's a great flick!
That style has become a bit over used but it's still very interesting.

3. yep, it's extremely depressing
great performances, and the story is amazing, but really depressing. I rate it one of the most depressing ever.

6. I saw it last night. Technically, it's a very well made film.
Directing, acting...all first rate.

But, Jesus, it's one of the bleakest films I've ever seen. I can't remember a film I personallly disliked more than this one.

7. freepers hate it, cuz of sean....
both '21 grams' and 'mystic river' were excellent movies....imo. if you want grim, watch 'dead man walking' (great movie based on true story) for depressing, watch 'dr phill'...

8. To me American Beauty was the most depressing film of all time
I liked it... but I found it soul shakingly depressing!

I have talked to several people that just thought it was a crappy movie, not worthy of critical acclaim, but I found it almost life altering in terms of the depression factor.

15. One thing I didn't buy about that movie was if everyone in that family
was getting laid, why were they all so uptight? And I sure found it strange no one ever pulled the shades down. Ending was a bit silly.
Music was great. So was Spacey.

11. hmmm
I thought it was a soap opera. Making a TV transplant story of the week and chopping it up some doesn't make the basic concept any less corny...but tastes differ and your mileage may vary!

14. "Ironweed" (Meryl Streep & Jack Nicholson)
and

"Nobody's Fool" (Paul Newman)

Both remain in my mind as depressing movies.

22. it drove me nuts
I totally didn't understand what was going on. I could make no sense of it with it jumping back and forth like that. Maybe I need to see it again but it made absolutely no sense.

23. I had a similar problem with Memento
I was kinda confused watching it and kept asking to rewind it.

I want to see Memento again. Very interesting movie. BTW, has anyone seen the DVD? Are the extra on it good?
