Denver deli
Does anyone know of a good gourmet deli or bakery in Denver that does gift baskets and has a website?
I have searched the web and it is a stab in the dark. Thought someone might know of a good local business there. Thanks

1. Hmm. I can recommend Jason's Deli

They deliver.

Or if you're a little amorous, Le Bakery Sensual (cackle) (they also have regular stuff too)
http://www.lebakerysensual.com/

Also
http://www.zesto1.com/

Best Gourmet Deli:
Art Mart
Everything from Prosciutto di Parma to Double Gloucester to Andouille sausage. Lincoln Square Mall, U, 344-7979.

(this is in Boulder, btw)

Also, the New York Deli News is also nice.

2. A quick search and I found
Tony's Meats
http://www.americascuisine.com/denver/tonysmeatsinfo.html
It's in Littleton, so it's probably upscale.

A Basket Wrap
http://www.abasketwrap.com/

I don't know either of those places, but they both do gift baskets.

The only real delis I know in Denver are

Heidi's Deli
303-451-9199 (no website)

and

East Side Kosher Deli
303-322-9862.
"as a full line delicatessen, a grocery store, a butcher shop with fresh and frozen meats and chicken (including bison!) and a full service sit-down restaurant. Take-out, catering , ship to the ski resorts summer and winter."

I can tell you to NOT use Jason's Deli (food consistently dry), Schlotzsky Deli (not a real deli and deli-food recipient would be disappointed), or Einstein Bros. Bagels. All are chains, if you don't have them by your house. And as a person who spent a lot of time in NY delis, these places all suck.

5. Oh yeah, I forgot about ESKD
Why would I disappoint my fellow Jews if I didn't plug that place. The owner is INCREDIBLY nice and I've known him growing up.

(I also knew the previous owner too, his daughter and I were in the same grade in Hebrew school)

4. Wild Oats and Whole foods....
Edited on Thu Dec-30-04 11:55 PM by buczak
> Wild Oats - Headquartered in Boulder, CO

Website: http://www.wildoats.com/

Gift basket info: http://www.wildoats.com/u/department70/

I don't know if you can order online, but when I go to the stores, i notice gift baskets and stuff all around.

I'm sure you could call a local store and have it delivered.

> Whole foods - the competition.

http://www.wholefoods.com/

The only problem with whole foods is that nobody goes to whole foods anymore, it's too crowded.

7. We usually do Pasquinis
http://www.pasquinis.com/bakinglist.html

Their baked bread is godlike, and they have an incredible selection of good quality deli meats, favoring (of course) the Italian meats. I think for under $50 we got a couple of meat & cheese trays and a couple rounds of bread. Rosemary bread and pugliese are my faves.

1710 S. Broadway - it runs one way North so approach it from the south and it's on the right hand side of the street.

8. Pasquini's is great!
Hard to bake good bread here at altitude, but there's something about Pasquini's bread (and pizza dough, for that matter) that is just right.
