Did you give any gifts that went over like a lead balloon?
I sure did.

We have a gift exchange with a 5 - 10 dollar limit. The gift has to be appropriate for anyone from 13 - 85 years old. (can you see where this is going..)

My 85 year old parents do not have a CD or DVD player. The 13 year olds do not garden or cook or watch birds....My 13 year old princess was devastated last year when the gift she brought home was a ham!

This is the yearly gift that stresses me the most. So this year I found a gift box of candied nuts, and (drum roll) a bag of freeze dried ice cream. I loved the ice cream - it was labeled as astronaut food. How cool is that. Not everyone gets astronaut food. And to make it even more special - I put a red kazoo on the bow of the beautifully wrapped package.

I had grand visions we'd all get to sample it, and it would be passed around with glee. After all, I bought the large 24 serving size.

It was opened and briefly scrutinized. After the quick thank you it was slide behind the chair with the crumpled up wrapping paper.

GEEZ! I thought I did a good job. Oh well - It's the thought that counts. On to next years challenge.

What would you have given?

3. The problem is
that, although, your intent was admirable, you didn't follow through.

You write that "...would be passed around with glee." Now, if you had indeed added the glee, I'm certain the gifts would have been gratefully accepted.

By the way: I would love loved BOTH the candied nuts and the freeze dried ice cream, however, I would probably have simply given them a lead balloon.

:silly:
