Has anyone heard if the tsunami hit Bali?
There was that big earthquake and tsunami in southeast Asia today. I'm worried because my cousin and her husband went to the island of Bali for Christmas. Bali looks to be very close to the action, but I haven't heard anything specific about that island.

1. Earthquake was in Sumatra
It was a 9.6 or something close to it. :scared: Tsunamis as far as 1000 miles. Ugh. Many, many, many people are probably dead.

2. I doubt that is going to happen
IIRC, the earthquake hit the ocean west of Thailand, Bali is to the east of Thailand & should be protected by the Sumatra island.

3. According to this...
'The Indonesian tourist resort of Bali, which hosts hundreds of British holidaymakers over the Christmas season, was unaffected.'

6. Thanks, that's great news
Unfortunately, I also know someone whose parents went to Thailand for Christmas. I don't know where in that country they are.

7. I've a cousin in Ubud
It's thankfully located in the center of Bali. Have been scouring maps all day.

The epicenter of the quake was cited as being off the northern tip of Sumatra and once cited as being located a third of the way down the island. Have been looking for details all day but they're mostly talking about bigger countries. Any one having details please post as I'm pretty sure that the power's down there.

Thanks
