2. Here's my top five:
Edited on Thu Dec-23-04 08:13 PM by SmileyBoy
1) Fargo
2) The Big Lebowski
3) Raising Arizona
4) The Hudsucker Proxy
5) Barton Fink

I never cared for Blood Simple, Miller's Crossing or O' Brother, tho. I've watched every Coen Brothers movie ever made, as a gesture of good will to them, being two of the most famous people to ever graduate from my old high school (next to Al Franken).

11. Barton Fink. All who vote otherwise are whores.
Oh, hold on, I meant 'mistaken', or perhaps 'unaware of this particular choice.'

'Whores'?!?! What was I thinking?

13. Gotta go with Lebowski
the dude abides. I liked its trippy visuals and the wonderfully zonked Jeff Bridges. Plus any movie with a "marmot:, nihilists, and a musical production number with giant bowling pins earns extra points.

18. ladykillers was a remake anyway...
though i did find it somewhat enjoyable, it wasn't up to the standard set by greats like Big Lebowski and Raising Arizona.

21. Can't Help It - I'm a Hudsucker Fan
Edited on Thu Dec-23-04 10:42 PM by Crisco
I suspect it's mostly for the soundtrack.

trivia note: in Raising Arizona, when they show Hi (H.I. Donnough) at his welding job, the tag on his shirt reads "Hudsucker Industries."

Loved Fargo, O Brother, Raising Arizona. Appreciated Miller's Crossing and Blood Simple.

But The Hudsucker Proxy just makes me smile.

Add on edit: I absolutely hated Barton Fink. Scared the hell out of me. I slept with the lights on afterward.

24. I have only seen two of them
Fargo and Raising Arizona in spite of my connection to them - I took an economics course from their dad at the University of Minnesota and had him write a letter of recommendation for me to graduate school. That was in 1984, about the time Blood Simple came out.
