New Years eve plans??
So I didn't ask the only girl I had a good shot at spending New Years with when I saw her last night. :dunce:

Every other girl I know from college or high school has moved away, or is just spending New Years out of town. I've lost this girl's phone number, since I hadn't been single for several years. My plan now is to just go up to her work and ask her.

Backup plan is to go downtown to the bars. Find a girl to kiss there. I refuse to go New Years alone.

1. Zkr
I have tried to do zkr on New Year's Eve for years now. The word can be translated as "recitation" or "remembrance" and is a spiritual practice well known to those on the Sufi path.

2. I'm staying at home New Years Eve.
The bars...that is, the gay bars here...charge about $20 cover charge to just get inside. I'm not doing that anymore.

Just staying at home. And hang out here. :-)

6. Granby St. in Norfolk shouldn't be too bad.
Even if I don't get in, I'm sure I can meet a girl outside.

3. I'm gonna be in Las Vegas...
...I plan on chillin' on Freemont Street with family and friends. My Aunt asked me to wear my Uniform out so if you see me, buy me a drink or at least wish me a Happy New Year!

4. Staying home and having friends over
...do not like to drive in New Year's. Plus, I am old and probably won't make it to see the ball drop.

9. My son & I will be flying back from Vegas on NYE.
After 5 days of exploring SoCal.....

One of those father/son bonding expeditions.

So I imagine that I'll have my fuzzy jammies on and will be holding a flute of Champagne.

10. We're having a very boring, low-key party
for a few friends who don't want to do much besides sit around with a few friends. No smoking. Just some wine and snacks and music. Maybe a movie. I'll probably go to bed at 12:01. I volunteered to work at the community center in the morning.

11. New Year's Eve is Our Anniversary
Dec 31, 1991 was our first official "date". I took the Amtrak train down to where The Princess lived at the time, because my Ford Escort had blown its engine a few weeks earlier. She brought me to her place, where she had prepared a fabulous meal of spaghetti & meatballs.

From that night on, we've been together - first as boyfriend and girlfriend, and finally as husband and wife. We celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary in February.

I try to stay off the roads on New Year's Eve - when it comes to drinking, it's "Amateur Night".

13. Cool story!
Happy anniversary a wee bit early. I hear you on "amateur night." That's precisely why we host and the other couples either stay over or live in the neighborhood.

12. We have an annual tradition of hosting a seven course
wine pairing dinner that starts at 5:30 and ends pretty much exactly at midnight with dessert and champagne. Usually there are six of us, but this year we have another couple coming. We pull out all stops with the recipes and the wine.

Glad to hear you are going up to her work to ask her. Good luck!
