He is an ass, but it would make his mother happy.

2. Cool!!!
Edited on Tue Dec-21-04 11:11 AM by Hell Hath No Fury
I am so excited. :)

So, come on, who does everyone think in the "half-blood prince" the title refers to???

As for who dies, I think that Dumbledore may die -- that would turn everything on its head. He has been Harry's biggest protector and teacher - his loss to Harry and the school would dramatically escalate the danger and the drama potential.

I've also long thought that Ron (who I adore) had "dead meat" written on him.

17. Neville is evolving...
into one of my very favorite characters! I have no doubt that we are in for some wonderful new developments with him in the new book. I think of all the Gryffindors, he has come the farthest -- and I think it was wonderful that the Sorting Hat saw the heart of a lion in a boy who appeared to be afraid of his own shadow. :)

7. My Wife Thinks That Dumbledore...
...will not be around for the end. She may be right.

I do believe that the trio, Harry, Hermione & Ron will all make it through to the end. If Ron goes, who will Hermione's honey-bunny be? After all Harry & Ginny seems a good mathc.

BTW, since Harry vs. Voldemort is the predestined final battle, I think that the other final battles will be:

Ron vs. Draco, Hermione vs. Beatrix Lestrange (spelling? I mean the woman who killed Sirius) and Ginny vs Mr. Malfoy (The ultimate humiliation for him, to be defeated by the youngest Weasley!).

13. Hermione's hunny bunny
Ron could bite it, if Viktor Krum is re-introduced as he joins in to defeat the dark wizards. You're right, tho, about Harry and Ginny--they're almost destined to hook up.

15. Not Hermione vs. Bellatrix!
I sure have hopes Neville puts that @#$% Lestrange down in a most nasty way.

Hermione doesn't have the stuff to fight Lestrange. Remember in the Department of mysteries fight "You can't hurt a baby!" when Harry was gonna curse that babyheaded deatheater?

Neville on the other hand had a broken nose, broken wand and had just suffered from Lestrange's cruciatus curse when he picked up Hermione's (she was ko'd) wand and STUCK IT IN THE EYE of deatheater Macnair!

Lots of Potter fans are rabid about their ships. I'm the same about the matchups. Neville v. Lestrange forever.

PS Weasley's vs Malfoy's!

:-)

18. The fact that she was...
responsible for Neville's parents going mad leads me to believe that it will be a Neville v. Beatrix ending. It is karmically fitting.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/books/12/21/uk.potter.ap/index.html

The sixth novel in J.K. Rowling's blockbuster Harry Potter series, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," will go on sale in Britain and the United States on July 16, publishers said Tuesday.

In other words, her fans will have to take the book off their Christmas gift lists, and make it part of their New Year's resolutions.

"We are delighted to announce the publication date," which also will take place in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, said the joint announcement by Nigel Newton, the chief executive of Bloomsbury Publishing Plc in England, and Barbara Marcus, the president of Scholastic Children's Books in the United States.
