Actually I kinda thought Kaufman was a bit overrated. Deconstruction is such a limited schtick.

Now I get it . . .

I think it was his "foreign man with bongo" that turned it for me . . .

Unfortunately, I had to have it spelled out for me by VH1 (or Biography, or something like that).

But I do remember the "Fridays" episode where the brawl broke out. I was watching that, first run. I always thought it was for real, especially the Michael Richards part (where he walked over and brought the cue cards to the table), until I saw that Kaufman's best friend/manager in the "Fridays" jacket . . . then I truly understood the setup . . .
