who knows how to 'adopt" a division or platoon or whatever...
i read on here a while ago about someone sending a group of soldiers care packages. How do you go about doing this if you don't really know anyone that is over there? i'm part of a very large bulletin board and i think i could get a ton of stuff to send over and make life a little more bearable for some of the people stuck in the quagmire..

1. Contact the USO or
the public affairs officer for any unit deployed.

Try to go for a local Guard or Army unit.

2. we do care
We do care that they are over there, they should not be there
in the first place, but this moron in the whitehouse has sent them
there, yes we should send things to them,

Care package
Cookies
Heineken 6pack
Letters of encouragement
Picture of Smirk, smirking and saying this is the moron who sent you over here, to be used as a dart board

4. i'm in missouri, but i'll ship anywhere.
i figure i'll get some people involved and get a list of things that are needed/wanted, and then find someone specific who can take delivery in iraq. the uso doesn't take general stuff, and apparently they don't want anything that isn't new or shrink wrapped.

i have stuff like an extra portable cd player w/ headphones, books etc that i think could be of use, and i'm open to buying stuff too..

5. I live about 45 minutes from Ft. Hood and one of our good Dem is
retired military. He and his wife work with the soldiers before they go over. If you send me a PM, I'll send you his e-mail and I'll let him know to expect to be contacted.
