I just became a victem of the bush economy
I found out that I, and over 400 of my co workers are being laid off. No real message, just looking for a little sympathy.

5. 'm very sorry R S
you'll get a lot of sympathy here. I'm still employed but the fear of layoff is always there. Here's what you do: spend half your days on what you need to do to become employed again, and the other half working to get these thieving bastards out of the White House so as to speed up the process.

11. So sorry to hear that
My husband got laid off about a year ago. We have managed to scrape by on our savings and my small business, but it's hard not to be angry.

16. Be Angry
I am tired of being told that I cannot be angry.

Anger is a valid human emotion, the veneer of gentility be damned!

I spent the morning calling my US Senators to complain about the economy and other issues.

Fight Back!

18. Damn straight.
if ever there was a time for anger, it's now. We have to put that anger and energy fully behind dislodging the cancerous mass that occupies the White House.

You used Bushed as a term to mean "laid off" which I thought was very clever. From now on we should just say I've been Bushed to stand for being laid off or furloughed.

17. Ahh crap redneck socialist...
Do you live in an area where there are fallback opportunities? I really feel for you. I watched 90% of my coworkers get the chop over the last year.

I still can't believe corporations can get away with this for extreme short term gain. It boggles the mind.

When will they realize that if this keeps up no one will be able to afford their goods/services and that WILL negatively impact their stock portfolio.

Bastards.

19. Been Unemployed For the Whole BFEE
No Jobs Prospects Despite my Background:

MBA
BSEE
Commercial Pilot
Veteran

Get ready for a long stay at home.

And don't beat yourself up. It is not your fault.

Turn your anger and frustration into finding a job and fighting back.

I have an email list to friends and acquaintances. Every day, I send articles that undermine the BFEE.

I have turned a few people around.

21. Wow, that was fast!
Thanks for the positive thoughts all. I was not really surprised that it happenned, more surprised by the timing. Thought we would make it to next year at least. The company is called Decathlon. It is an international retail sporting goods chain and it is very successful in Europe, but has struggled here in the US. On the plus side I don't have to feel guilty anymore about working for a big box retailer that was contibuting to sprawl and hurting the little local guys. My background includes a lot of political work so I am starting to explore hooking up with a campaign. Thanks again everyone, DU rocks!

22. Here is an Article on Decathlon
http://business.bostonherald.com/businessNews/business.bg?articleid=285

"One store manager estimated Decathlon stores in New England have an average of about 25 employees, which would mean some 350 jobs could be affected."

27. So sorry Redneck Socialist
I hope you are able to find another job soon.

You are not only the victim of the Bush economy but also of corporate greed. Too often people get laid off just to boost the stock price.

What is bad news for workers is good news to the big investors on Wall Street...go figure.
