A semi-tame Downy Woodpecker!
I have an iron hook hanging outside my computer window that, during the Summer, has a Hummingbird feeder on it. Since the Hummers have gone, I've put a peanut feeder on it and now I've got a Downy Woodpecker that's been feeding off it for weeks now, and no longer flie off when I move around inside. Just stares at me briefly, then goes back to chowing down. Usually they're very skittish. I've been feeding birds for years and this is pretty unusual for this species.

1. That is most excellent...
I live on the 4th floor, with tons of trees around. Can't get the birds to come near the windows, but a few squirrels sit on the ledge and all but open my windows.

3. Get some pictures !!!
And share them here !!
I have some video of two of them doing a mating dance last spring. And a few different hawks hunting the field across the street this past fall. Bores my wife to tears, lol !

6. I tell you the little red toppped ones are here regularly but when i hear
the resounding pounding of a Pilated I go running to the window! What is it about woodpeckers? I'm outside Houston with 50 acres and a bayou out back and among all the cool birds, including turkey vultures, various hawks, roseate spoonbills etc. ad nauseum the 'peckers are my faves.
