Don't you hate it when you ...
rent a DVD from the store, bring it home and start watching it and more than halfway into it, it turns out to be a defective DVD.

I'm sitting here watching "City of God" and all of a sudden, I get a message on my screen that says "unable to read disc".

I pulled out the disc and wiped any smudges that might have caused it, but there is some problem with that one particular scene, which makes watching the rest of the movie impossible.

Fucking Blockbuster.

1. No. I don't hate that at all/
I love it when that happens. Because, then, I can take it back to the Blockbuster the next day and get a bunch of free popcorn and Butterfingers.

3. Hey, I keep trying to rewind the damn things.
Smudges are the least of my problems.

4. The disc isn't their fault, but yeah they suck.
I especially love the way they (used to, at least) barrage you with endless letters and phone calls over a $5.00 late fine (even when they have their product back in the store). One day I finally told them that I would withhold the payment on the fine until they spent that whole $5.00 in postage and labor costs calling me on the phone. Not long after that I quit hearing from them and I've never been back.

5. My DVD player just won't play some DVDs. Mostly English ones.
They're Region 1, they're NTSC... but the DVD player can't handle them. Obnoxious piece of crap.

Thank entropy my laptop has a DVD player, else I'd still not have seen Neverwhere, The Magdalene Sisters or The Reckoning.
