Hamburg - Hungarians have overtaken the French as having the world's most active sex lives, while eastern Europeans outshine Latin lovers, according to the results of a global sex study released on Monday.

Hungarians claim to have sex 152 times a year, comfortably beating the French, 144, who slip to seventh from their previous top spot, behind a host of eastern Europeans led by Bulgaria, 152, and Russia, 150, the Durex Global Sex Survey 2003 shows.

The average is 127 times a year, down on 139 times a year in 2002, according to the online survey by the condom manufacturer of 150 000 people from 34 countries.
