I OWE MY LIFE TO DU (Ladyhawk I will help you)
I use to be LadyDemocrat remember me?

Chronology of my existence.
10 years ago:
My ex fianc left me for a candy company owners daughter that he had met and knew for a whole two weeks.
9 1/2 years ago:
My Mom died because the damn Doctor gave her sulfur drugs in the hospital for food poisoning and she was allergic to sulfur and she had a stroke and died 6 months later and she lived her 6 months out in intensive care. Her records vanished while she was in the hospital so we couldn't sue for what they had done to her. It wasn't the money part that I wanted paid for I wanted paid for what the HMO Doctor had done to her so that it would go on his record because she was only 59 years old.
One year later.
I was injured at work and I had botched surgery that put me on permanent disability.
The insurance company refused to pay for my care because they said that I was on WC long enough.
I gained 155 pounds while I was going through hell and I ended up weighing 290 pounds.
I couldn't walk and I was in severe pain and I couldn't get pain meds and I was taking 50 Al eves in a week and I ended screwing my system up and I had nose bleeds constantly and I mean constantly.
I would be sitting one minute and the next minute blood would be running down my face out in public.
Our house went into foreclosure and we filed chapter 13 and we started to pull our selfs out.
My Sister and Dad had a gift ware business that brought in about $4,000.00 dollars per week and they started paying for my treatment before my SSD starting paying me.
Our house went back into foreclosure and we couldn't save it and we owed $150,000.00 on the house and it sold for over $450,000.00 last year.
My Car was junked because I couldn't pay the repair bill last year.
We have been evicted twice in the last two years.

I told my Dad one day that I didn't want to live any longer because I couldn't take it anymore.
People kept making comments about how fat I was and I couldn't buy any clothes. We barely had enough money to fill our gas tank up with gas from one day to the next.
I couldn't walk because of the pain and I had a wheelchair that I had to be pushed in.
I had allways had a job my entire life since I was 15 years old and I had picked up extra waitressing jobs on the side to make ends meet and I always had money. I use to do stand up comedy on the weekends and believe it or not I worked on TV commercials and I was in Crime Stories for 12 weeks of there shows.
My life was over to me and I wanted to DIE but I was suicidal at all.
One day I went into the garage and I told my Dad that I was going to turn the ignition on and end my life.
The next thing that I knew was the police was at my door and they pulled me out of my car.
They didn't take me in but they told me to go to the hospital and I went to Evanston Hospital and I asked them to admit me to the Psyche Ward because I didn't want to live any longer but I didn't want to commit suicide either.
I stayed in there 2 day's and the people in that ward were pitifully. One lady kept calling out Bingo Numbers. I 22, B 10, G 45, N 54, etc. I said Bingo real loud to get her to shut up and she went into a fit.
The Doctors told me that I did not need to stay there and my Doctors told them to release me.
I checked myself in so I could go at any time. DON'T LET THEM ADMIT YOU. IF YOU ARE IN NEED OF HELP GET YOUR BUT OVER TO THE HOSPITAL AND ADMIT YOURSELF THEN YOU ARE IN CONTROL AND YOU CAN LEAVE WHEN YOU WANT TO.

My 18(?) year old Mama Cat died one week and the next week her 14 year old daughter Mia died.
Two months later our 27 year old Cockatiel Tilly died and then my 17 year old poodle Toby died.
One year later our 16 or 17 year old Dog Lulu Died and right after that my BABY and I mean he was my BABY Boy Died from Kidney failure and part of me went with him. He was my 16 year old Red Tabby Persian and I loved him dearly and he slept in my arms and on my pillow every night of his little life.
ALL OF MY PETS DIED OF OLD AGE NOT FROM NEGLECT.

While I was there I made some decisions that I had to change my life because I was the only one that could make my life better.

I had gastric bypass surgery and I have lost over 145 pounds.
I am down to a size 8 or 10 now.
I went back to College during my weight loss and I am making a life for myself.

9 Months ago 2 DU'ers helped me with my tuition that I was short of or I would have been kicked out of College and I owe my life to them.
I wanted to thank them but I lost there email and street addresses. I am in touch with one of them now and he knows how grateful I am to him. He is one of the best DU'ers around here and all of you guys know him.

My landlords son was evicting my Sister because of being fined for noise and one months back rent.
The guy didn't have a court order to evict me and he stole all of my stuff and I mean all of it. I don't even have a baby picture of myself and my Dad's WW2 things are gone. My Mom's stuff is gone and all of my pets ashes are gone and we cremated every Dog, Bird and Cat that we owned that died.
I use to save some hair and put it in their urns and I painted a picture on the outside of the urns. I don't have any pictures of my pets either from years ago or my Mom.
ALL OF MY CULINARY EQUIPMENT WAS STOLEN and my books were all ripped off. My cookbook collection went also and all of my Cd's, games, video equipment, cameras, TV's, my other computer, etc. was stolen.
What the sheriff didn't break during the eviction at the foreclosure was stolen by our landlords son.

(I have a lawsuit against the landlords son but I want my things I don't want the money)

I picked myself up again and I didn't quit my classes. I bought a $20.00 dollar cheap knife and some plastic measuring cups and spoons and I went back to class.
The chefs rallied around me and I didn't want handouts but they put me a kit together and I help them out know to show how much I love them for what they have done.

Several months back my teeth were bothering me and I didn't have the funds to get the work done that the Dentist needed to do which was around $3,500.00 dollars and that was at a poor persons Dentist.
Let's just say when I had all of my teeth pulled I couldn't get a cab from that area. Have you ever heard of the Latin Kings? They are in the area that I had to go to the Dentist.

I was sick one day and I posted a thread on DU and my life was saved by fellow DU'ers. I had blood poisoning and I was kicked off of DU but some of my favorite people and told to go to the hospital immediately.
I went to the hospital and I was admitted because I had blood poisoning and I was told that I had to have all of my teeth out.

I BEGGED THE DEPT. OF REHAB FOR OVER ONE YEAR TO HELP ME GO TO THE DENTIST AND THEY WOULDN'T DO IT. I FOUND OUT THEY HELP PEOPLE ON SSD!

2 1/2 Weeks ago my teeth were removed and I felt like I wanted to die again but I said FUCK IT and I stopped belly aching.

My Chef's told me to come back to College even though the whole College found out that I had my teeth removed because everyone knows anyway and they told me that I had the gift of cooking.

I get my teeth this week and I am not going to stop. I am getting my life together and to hell if I check out and die.

I AM WILLING TO HELP OTHERS AFTER WHAT I HAVE BEEN THROUGH AND I HAVE COME OUT OF THIS ALIVE.
IF YOU NEED MY HELP EMAIL ME!

11. I hope that you are VERY proud of yourself for
being such a survivor. PLEASE don't drop out of shcool - it will make SUCH a difference in your entire life. I remember when you posted that night about your teeth. God my heart went out to you. I also have had major teeth issues but fortunately(this past year) have been able to handle them due to my work insurance and finally (after having finished school myself at 41) having the funds to do so. I've spent every spare dime I have on them but I'm just so grateful that I've had spare dimes to spend. Anyway, I'm thrilled that you're getting your teeth and I KNOW it will help your self-esteem. You are a wonderful example of someone who was so down but got themselves back!

14. I could go on about how DU has changed my life
I really don't want to, though, because I'm not ready to go into personal details so much right now. Sure, I never was on the verge of suicide or anything, but DU has had a PROFOUND impact on my life. I wouldn't be where I am right now if it wasn't for all of you.

But, Corarose, you rock for making it this far. I feel obligated to post a "you rock" emoticon, but i'll do it happily, because you do rock! :yourock:
